Scmor Farewell Address Half a score and seven years ago our parents brought forth on th1s contlnent the future class of 52 concen ed 1n 1ndependence and ded1cated to the propos1t1on that all Sen1ors should recelve an educat1on Now we are engaged 1n a great confhct testlng whether that class any class so conce1ved and so ded1cated can graduate We are met 1n great battlef1eld of that confhct We have come to ded1cate a port1on of that f1eld as a f1na1 meet1ng place of us who here gave our efforts that that 1nSt1tut1on m1ght thr1ve It 15 altogether f1tt1ng and proper that we should do th1s But 1n a larger sense we cannot dedlcate we cannot consecrate we cannot hallow thxs school The brave Sen1ors who have struggled here have consecrated lt far more than mere words can descr1be The world w11l l1ttle note nor long remember what we say here but lt can never forget what we d1d here It 15 for the jumor rather to be dedmcated here to the unf1n1shed work wh1ch the clas 'mf 52 have thus far so nobly advanced It 15 rather for you to be here ded1cated to the great task re deVOt1On to that cause for whlch we gave the last full measure of devot1on that we here h1ghly resolve that our efforts shall not have been 1n va1n that th1s class under MISS We1sshaar shall have a new b1rth of freedom and that rul1ng of the Sen1orS by the Sen1ors for the Sen1ors shall not per1sh from the earth Wlth apolog1es to A L.1ncoln PAUL FREDERICKS J .
