Principal Hugh C. Porter It is with mixed emotions that I bid you farewell upon your graduation from Parkview High School. It has been three years now that we have been in close association both in the classroom as teacher-pupil and the school as principal-student. In these three brief years I have come to know each and every- one of you personally and have watched your educational - social development and accomplishments with great pride. It is with sadness that I shall watch you depart from these halls and out of our daily lives which were greatly en- riched by your presence. It is, however, with great joy that I bid you adieu as it is with the knowledge that We are sending the flower of America's youth out into our adult society and that you, the members of the class of 1966, will be a worthy and vital addition to this great country of ours. May you meet with success in your every endeavor you undertake and enjoy the fruits of a full and joyous life.

In this era of automation we many times forget the basic needs of our stu- dents. We want to feed data into machines and computers to produce ready-made solutions for all their problems. The pro- cess of growing up, facing the many difficulties of their approaching adult- hood can be an awesome and fearful time. This is the time when the services of the guidance counselor can best be ut- ilized. The objective of the guidance pro- gram is not to give advice'and answers to problems but provide an outlet by which the students can arrive at an under- standing through their own reasoning. A realization of their potential, vocational and educational planning, and testing are all a part of the total guidance picture. Guidance Counselor Len Demert
