i Parkview High School Orfordville Wisconsin if B .Q ,Q i '19 .QQ , .o The viking Vol. 2 Dedication ii We, the Editors of the 1966 Viking, as repre- sentatives of the Senior Class of 1966, dedicate this yearbook to Mr. Donald Robb for his outstanding achieve- ments in promoting the Music Department of Parkview High School. He has given unselfishly of his time and efforts for the benefit of the school and the community. To you, Mr. Robb, go our special thanks and ap- preciation for your valuable contributions and fine ex- ample you have given us. ADMINISTRAT. .....,- Congratulations to the graduating Seniors of the class of 1966. We have enjoyed having you in high school and hope that your high school experi- ence will benefit you in the future. I leave you with this thought... You have each been given a bag of tools, A formless rock and a book of rulesg And each must make, ere life has flown, A stumbling block or a stepping stone. I hope that your high school education will help each and every one of you make a good strong stepping stone. Superintendent Delbert L. McGinnis Principal Hugh C. Porter It is with mixed emotions that I bid you farewell upon your graduation from Parkview High School. It has been three years now that we have been in close association both in the classroom as teacher-pupil and the school as principal-student. In these three brief years I have come to know each and every- one of you personally and have watched your educational - social development and accomplishments with great pride. It is with sadness that I shall watch you depart from these halls and out of our daily lives which were greatly en- riched by your presence. It is, however, with great joy that I bid you adieu as it is with the knowledge that We are sending the flower of America's youth out into our adult society and that you, the members of the class of 1966, will be a worthy and vital addition to this great country of ours. May you meet with success in your every endeavor you undertake and enjoy the fruits of a full and joyous life. as, T' M. ABRAHAMSON Clerk X' School Board ffmxx ,feng :aw T Y E. RENLY D. BECK Secretaries F T r DOROTHY HEGGE BETTY sc HU LTZ In this era of automation we many times forget the basic needs of our stu- dents. We want to feed data into machines and computers to produce ready-made solutions for all their problems. The pro- cess of growing up, facing the many difficulties of their approaching adult- hood can be an awesome and fearful time. This is the time when the services of the guidance counselor can best be ut- ilized. The objective of the guidance pro- gram is not to give advice'and answers to problems but provide an outlet by which the students can arrive at an under- standing through their own reasoning. A realization of their potential, vocational and educational planning, and testing are all a part of the total guidance picture. Guidance Counselor Len Demert Donald Albright B, S. As fund-raising projects, movies were shown on Saturdays for the children of the community and a dance was held for the high school students. A helpful addition this year was the installation of the Student Council sugges- tion box in the office. Candy sales were held during February and March to add to our A. F. S. fund. Viking Staff is g Carolyn Connell Marilyn Connell The 1966 Viking Staff was composed of 14 students. Mrs. Marilyn Bock was our advisor. We have tried to improve the Viking by having more action shots and less group settings. We feel that in years to come, these pictures will be of much more value to you than would be a group picture. Another innovation to the Viking is our Senior Specials . They were voted upon by the Senior Class in the fall. The four catagories are: l. Best Dancer, 2. Class Wits, 3. Best Dressed, 4. Most Desirable Personalities. Co-Editors Wyonne Church Martha Mielke Business Managers Organization Editors S. Johnson J. Schmerse R. Hawley J. McLimans P. Johnson S. Svoboda P. Mahlum C. Haugen S. Simpson C. Drenning This year, for the first time, Park- view High School, the Welch family, and certainly the entire community have en- joyed the presence of Solomon WoIdeSe- mayat. Solomon was born in Lange, Ethiopia on the continent of Africa. Before his journey here, he lived in Dire Dawa, about forty miles from Lange. He has three brothers and three sisters ranging in age from thirty-two to seventeen. So1omon's elementary schooling was shortened because he skipped the 5th and 6th grades. Solomon was impressed most by our superhighways. He found the Amer- ican people to be generally very friendly. Being a member of the Lettermen's club and on the football and wrestling squads, his athletic achievements were great. Everyone agrees that Solomon WoldeSemayat has been a great friend and fine addition to the enrollment at Parkview. American Field Service Solomon WoIdeSemayat -I F Q, if af I ROW l: B. Palombi, L. After the last perfor- mance there was a pizza party given for members of the cast and friends.
