We, the senior players of the Orfordville Football team, would like to pay tribute to football as one of the most popular and colorful American sports. C- Hesgard Many spectators fill our bleachers each week, no Co-captain matter what the weather, to watch the split-second work of our team. They cheer wildly as one of the players try to advance for long runs through or around the opposing team's line. This year, through a series of games, the team members elected Ed Kane as the most valuable player. Marching bands and cheering sections make the football games a marvelous spectacle of color and sound. The bands in their precision marching execute difficult march maneuvers. Lively cheer- leaders lead the crowd in support of their team. Yea, we believe that Football is truly the sport that displays color. team work, good sportsmanship, a healthy competitive attitude, and a complete audience participation. BASKETBALL Orfordville finished with a lO-8 record in the Conference and this was good for a fourth place tie with Albany as Brodhead, Argyle, and New Glarus tied for the Championship. The record could have been better with a little luck as the team lost quite a few close ones. Charles Hesgard started as a guard and Charles Wells was a top reserve. These two boys were tie only seniors on the squad and lt is sincerely hoped that maybe next year they can win the Championship. Paul Johnson received an outstanding honor as he was selected first team all conference which is quite an accomplishment for a freshman. Paul also led the State Line Conference in scoring which to our knowledge is the first time a freshman has accomplished this feat. One thing that showed the team was made up of some fine young men was the way they kept fighting and trying when they were behind. These players didn't know the words guit or give up as they came from 17 points behind in the Planchardvllle game to tie them, and then lose. This is disappointing, hut this is the type of effort that will carry over to later years and make these younv men out- standing citizens.
