WE ARE ON THE SHORE . . . After four pleasant and productive years with the Class of 1965, we of the Orestimba Faculty must say farewell and good luck to you. During these years, most of you have grown and changed more than you realize. As Freshmen, you appeared somewhat confused by the sudden change in your status from competent eighth graders who had adjusted well to elementary school life, to planning and leading school activities, and to the responsible role of looking after the younger ones . In 1961 you became the younger ones in a new milieu, sometimes tenderly protected by--and occasionally shielded from--the attentions of the upper classmen. We regret that not all of your 1961 classmates were able to make the adjustment to high school requirements and responsibilities, and we know that in the com- ing years those students who dropped by the wayside will envy you as you take your place in society at higher levels of productive citizenship. . . . THE OCEAN LIES AHEAD. Now you are about to leave another situation in which you have made a com- fortable and profitable adjustment to embark on a new phase of your growth as men and women. You will again be novices, whether as Freshmen for further schooling or as beginning workers in the workaday world. You will find yourselves with new people, with new demands made upon you, and with new opportunities to display your talents and abilities. Nor will this be the last time you meet change, for the way of life in our mod- ern world is change and challenge. Whenever you begin to think there is no need for change and learning, you will then have begun the decline during which the world passes you by, and which ends with death. A We have every confidence that you will enjoy a long and pleasant journey across the sea of life as, with mixed emotions, we bid you BON VOYAGE. 7
