In so doing we want her to know that we deeply appre- ciate her efforts toward broadening our interest in art and instilling a pride of fine homemaking in many generations of Orestimba's girls. She has promoted our local FHA Chapter to statewide prominence. We will remember her, not only for her accomplishments, but also for her warm heart and keen sense of humor. z ADMIN ISTRATIGN DR. WILLIAM A. GUSTAFSON DISTRICT SUPERINTENDENT - PRINCIPAL 6 Every community realizes that its real wealth is in the young people who will finish their schooling, then willingly and effectively take on their new roles as adult members of the com- munity. We at Orestimba have had dramatic proof of this community's regard for its youth in the past year for a complete new high school. Seniors of sixty will not attend that new school, but their fine reputation as a friendly, sincere, and often hardworking group has con- tributed much to that com- munity interest and support which will provide the new school. Our job at Orestimba Union High School is to develop the most important single re- source or product any com- munity or nation can have-- intelligent and productive citizens. 0ur faculty is constantly and sincerely striving to improve the educational opportunities available to students. We have labored for four years with you to this end, and feel confident that the community's resources of human talent will be greatly increased by the graduation of the Class of 1960-the largest class ever to graduate from Orestimba Union High School.May you always remember your good years at Orestimba. I Left to right: Mr. Harold Densmoreg PRESIDENT, Mr. Lee Jasperg Mr. Norman Thorkelsong CLERK, Mr. Enos Tostag Mr. Louie Coelho. Co-operation is one of the keys of our societyg so it has been with our graduating seniors. Edu- cation demands harmony and understanding between the school, students and corn- rnunity. With an education based upon co-operation, you will enter a community better equipped for living and prospering. Con- gratulations to our student body and to a fine senior class. MR. JOSEPH C. Fernando is from Paysandu, Uraguay. At left, he is pictured in the Chemistry lab with Mr. O' Leary, his teacher and advisor. His school program included physical educa- tion, English IV, senior problems, driver's education, library, and chemistry. Fernando has participated in many school activities such as Science Club, Spanish Club, C.S.F. Committee, etc. At right, Fernando is intentively engaged in one of his many talks to student and community groups. Fernando's host family have been wonderful. 'Ripon - - - Coaches Brink and Turner, seem quite serious about the instructions being given to Elton before sending him into the game. A look at the score board in the background tells the reason why. The final score was 7-7. Bret Harte .... . Calaveras ----- ARSITY The 59-60 season was a thriller this year. Most of the games were close scores, with the LeGrande game ending in a tie score. That tie game put the Warriors one-half game behind the League Champs, our arch-rivals, Gustine. The only loss during the season was the Gustine game, a bitter one indeed to lose. Our Warriors may not have won the League Championship, but the team and the school is cer- tainly proud of this season. The football scores for this year are: . Orestimba . . . . 13 . The rest of the team was made up of six players from the 'B' championship team of '59 and three boys who had never played basketball at Orestimba before. The Warriors were handicapped by lack of height but made up for it in speed and aggressiveness. Kroeker and Harris were the top two scorers on the team and were among the top ten in the league. FIRST ROW: John Mitchell, Alan Post, Elton Harris, Corky Kroeker. SECOND ROW: Byron Bradley, John Bettencourt, Jesse Cota, Manuel Berberia., Donald Avila, Charles Tarpley. BASKETB LL The only team in the league undefeated, the Braves won the Southern League B Championship. These boys won 12 league games, plus five practice games, accumulating a grant total of 27 victories in the 1959 and 1960 season. The Braves have scored 712 points in league play making their league average points per game 59.3. These boys all show good promise for our next year's Varsity team.
