Vice -Principal MR. JOSEPH O'LEARY During the four years our graduating class has been in high school the world has seen developments and improvements in atomic energy, rocketry, satellites, government, literature, history, and medicine. Educa- tion involves the ability to change and adapt. The success of our graduates to be depends upon how thoroughly they under- stand the present and what the future will hold and I sincerely hope it holds happi- ness, peace and prosperity. Stand on your own two feet is a fre- quently heard admonition. While all civilized men follow in the foot- steps of those who have gone before, any growing civilization must have some mem- bers who are willing and able to venture beyond the lessons of the past. At the same time, responsible members of the society, in asserting independence and exercising freedom, are careful to respect and cherish the responsible freedom of others. Freedom of action must always be bounded by sufficient knowledge to es- timate results and possible consequences. As this yearbook reviews the school activ- ities of the year and salutes the graduating senior class, let us all review our own progress toward better understanding and practice of mature adult citizenship in our community and nation. May the contributions of the Class of 1959 be significant and enduring in many fields. GERRY TILLERY School Secretary WM GUS TA FSON Principal
