The MU was utilized as never before and became the hub for a variety of events. The Ballroom was crowded as talented students performed in weekly Friday Varieties. USO joined in the nationwide music trend sponsoring and participating in Sunday evening Hootenannies. Teas, dances, meetings and the traditional cup of coffee in the Commons or “0 Club round out the many dimensions of the MU. 19

STUDENT L FE is more than books and classrooms. Entertainment, activities, and leisure are a valuable part of a student’s experience. Fall term focused on entertainment as professionals and students alike deluged the campus with a variety of events. Laughter rang out as OSU enjoyed the humor of the Smothers Brothers. The popular Wayfarers made a campus appearance with such numbers as Shenandoah,” and Malaguena Salerosa.” 18

HOMECOMING a time of tradition ... a queen is crowned . . . housesigns erected . . . Months of planning culminate in a weekend whirl of activity. The annual bonfire, noise parade, and game make up the framework of the festivities as alums return to assess changes and meet old friends. The weekend was capped by the performance of Henry Mancini. Applause thundered through the Coliseum, a testimony to Mancini’s dry, quick wit and brilliant orchestra. 20
