An educator himself, Governor Hatfield was a professor and the dean of students at Willamette University before becoming secretary of state in 1957. [mark 0. HATFIELD STATE BOARD OF HIGHER EDUCATION Governing body of the Oregon state system of higher education is the State Board of Higher Education. PRESIDENT STRAND President A. L. Strand is the leader and coordinator in forming the educational policies of Oregon State college. Besides performing his duties on campus, the President represents the college off campus at various educational and business meetings concerning college affairs.
