The university professor is a custodian of the knowledge, skills, and wisdom of the ages. He is a torch-bearer for the race. The university student is a trustee of the future. The racial heritage will serve the future through him. The university classroom is a crossroads. Every current problem links past and future. The Oregon of tomorrow, the nation, and the world, in part are shaped year by year in the classrooms and laboratories of Oregon State. It matters what kind of teachers we have, the equipment we have, what we do in and out of the classroom. We students of Oregon State know this. On campus we have many pleasures, as this book will show. But under our gaiety can be found sincerity,industry, and purpose. We are in earnest.
