For Better Citizer DEAN FRANKLIN R. ZERAN of the School of Eduction instructs a class in Educational Guidance. A training center for guidance of personnel workers is the aim with which the School of Education is primarily concerned, with emphasis on preparation for high-school teaching. Prospective teachers are required to do student teaching before they graduate. These teaching positions entitle the persons to gain full knowledge of their duties in the future as well as providing them with practical experience that is ever valuable. For Better Business PRACTICAL OFFICE EXPERIENCE is received by senior students before raduation. DEHYDRATION OF FOODS in one of the many minors for R T students. The School of Business and Technology is not primarily concerned with preparing young ladies to become secretaries, but also with producing their employers. It is the only school of its type in the country that prepares students to enter in advertising and managership in industry both for wholesaling and retailing. Rapidly spread industrialization of the United States and of the Pacific coast has created an urgent demand for men and women who are versed not only in administration and management, but also in the basic technology and terminology of industrial materials. To comply with these demands, Business and Technology is attempting to fulfill that call by offering major work in industrial organization and operation, finance, marketing, personnel management, and secretarial science. New courses are offered every year. STATISTICAL CHARTS an overall picture of the trends of business. 21

Counsel Heads Training Program MAY WORKINGER, head of the Teacher Placement Service, interviews an applicant. A new cooperative counsel training program includes the three divisions of an “industrial program,” a “retailing program,” and a “business office program.” In the first of these programs, the student is employed as a regular employee and works in a factory thirty-two hours per week, shifting from one job to another in order to learn the real requirements and limitations of a factory position. The second program maintains the student working in various phases of the retailing business, rotating from job' to job. The last of these programs prepares the student to circulate through the entire office, working a short while at each person’s work. Curriculum Planned Each Year In planning its curricula, the School of Education maintained three qualifications of: mastery of subject matter, an understanding of child and adolescent psychology, professional problems and technique, and a broad knowledge of the many aspects of education.
