CLASSES IN FLORICULTURE and nursery management provide students with a background for the various phases of the florist business. This year the School of Agriculture has been mainly concerned with research and the effect of industrial gases on agriculture and the controlling of these gases. The school also extended the program for preparing its students to be among the best farmers and food technicians in the country. Diverse phases of training students include such things as stock, dairying, landscaping, construction, sales and development work with manufacturers of farm implements, and technical work in specialized lines. Fur farming has once again come to light for the first time since the war when it was discontinued because of lack of help and feed for the foxes. Officially accredited this year was a new department—agricultural engineering. Previously, it was entered through the School of Engineering, but now it is jointly administered by agriculture and engineering. The curriculum includes the four major phases of ag engineering. TTiey are: power and machinery, farm structures, rural electrification, and soil and water conservation and control. Because agriculture is one of the most important industries in the world, especially in the Willamette Valley, OSC is preparing some top-notch men in this field. 19

For Better Business PRACTICAL OFFICE EXPERIENCE is received by senior students before raduation. DEHYDRATION OF FOODS in one of the many minors for R T students. The School of Business and Technology is not primarily concerned with preparing young ladies to become secretaries, but also with producing their employers. It is the only school of its type in the country that prepares students to enter in advertising and managership in industry both for wholesaling and retailing. Rapidly spread industrialization of the United States and of the Pacific coast has created an urgent demand for men and women who are versed not only in administration and management, but also in the basic technology and terminology of industrial materials. To comply with these demands, Business and Technology is attempting to fulfill that call by offering major work in industrial organization and operation, finance, marketing, personnel management, and secretarial science. New courses are offered every year. STATISTICAL CHARTS an overall picture of the trends of business. 21
