Earle Swectland, chosen to head the class of 1940, topped an activity list including last year's chairmanship of the successful junior jive, Cafe de Prom.” Greeks held all offices for the class of '40. Journalist Anna Bunker, Lamplighter and Summer Session news chief, was selected as vice-president. Dorothy Hill of AWS Radio hour and Mortar Board fame filled the secretary's office. Fred Dahl and Bill Weir were selected as treasurer and sergeant-at-arms, respectively. (( Attendance at class meetings broke previous records without the inducement of popcorn and swing music offered when seniors were juniors. Members voted to replace-senior activity lists in the Beaver after discarding them from the ’39 annual. Activities were checked so the list for each senior is approximately equal. 1 A PP APT T r P year filled with activities provided seniors with J U U IIU V Lu happy memories of college days from class meetings to commencement exercises in June. Records fell before the largest attendance at senior class meetings that has occurred in the history of the school, both in numbers and by percentages. (( Earle Sweetland introduced entertainment at class meetings following the regular order of business. Dancing to Johnny Busch’s orchestra was featured at the first senior class meeting, the only one held fall term. (( Outstanding seniors graduating included leaders in publications, athletics and women's fields. Many seniors were selected for eastern scholarships and others obtained fine positions on the Pacific Coast. [ -i] Captain Beard receive a new American llaji from the Senior Claw, prc cmcd by Earl Sweetland. Adel Peter being mercenary for the moment, but all for the sake of the Claw of '40. A candid hot.
