THE END or THE TRAIL Withvour goal almost in sight, it is now our privilege as the elders of the band to do a little reminiscing. It seems a long while ago, that we started out on the trail as prospectors. Of course, we have had plenty of troubles, as who hasn't, but we had a lot of help from the faculty, or 'old timers' as we affectionately called them. we had our lighter moments, too, when we 'ditched the diggin' and went into town for a big dance. I remember the first time we were really on our own. We entertained the whole clan at St.Patr1cks Dance. Was it sad...seems as if not more than twenty-five people showed up the whole night. Yes, we were pretty green, in fact, we haven't seen a new bunch for quite a while that could hold a candle to us as far as inexperience was concerned. Not that I'm belittling our bunch. We caught up fast It was hardly any time at all before we played a big part in the 'miner's meetins' By the next year, we were pretty cocky We had a bang up time welcoming the new prospectors, and it was a pretty warm welcome we gave them This wasn't such a bad trail to follow after all And when it was our turn to provide the fun we tossed a Valentine Dance that was a huge success And then upper classmen at last' Frankly I don't know what the seniors would have done without us there to help them along The Thanksgiving Dance was a hum dinger, we seem to get better every year, even though our decorations were thrown away at the last minute we received our class rings which proved we really belong ed, and were we proud When the 'b8'ers' struck 'pay dirt' we gave them gala banquet, so as to start them out on their own with a full stomach at least Then the year finally arrived We as the 'b9'ers' led the band on what was to be the final lap of our journey It was our job to get thenewpmospectors acquainted so we threw a Mixer Dance, and had a lot of fun And then our busy year began We wrote a log of our travels, which you are now reading We were outfitted for ur new venture in caps and gowns We planned for the biggest night in town that this bunch ever had Yes indeed, the 'M9'ers' had a long and winding trail to follow, we had our ups and our downs, but now with our diplomas in sight, we know it was well worth the difficulties along the way Z 3 g f , ll 4,,,... l .
