During the past year the student council has aimed to advance the status of our school by more effective execution of its functions. One improvement of the council, which consists of the president, vice president, secretary, boys' repre- hai' 0-11 li., Joe Planton Vice President S-Q Bob Sack Secretary Becky Canon Elevator Editor T53 STUDENT 00N ll , ' -M 1 .- N57 1 i ,ei-in 'fi t .-.., sentative, girls' representative, editors and managers of the Hesperian and of the Ele- vator, was the addition of an inter-club council representative. The inter-club coun- cil was organized to bring the clubs of the school into closer contact with one another and to ease the financial burden of decorat- ing and improving the Pioneer Building for those clubs which sponsored social activities there during the school year. One of the major projects of the student council was to inform the students and their parents of the Oregon Youth Code. The council has work- ed hard to strengthen school spirit and to promote coherence of the students, faculty, and administration. We, the student council, wish to thank everyone, students and faculty alike, who have made our jobs easier during the past school year. .0111 A y 1 ,ww -, . et ' ' hyinsf r - J' I - are Maynard Buchmann Student Body President vs-'f -is pu Ed Serres Bailey Seida Carlene Johnson Inter-Club President Boys' Representative Girls' Representative . 1,-,Je x Nancy Hulse Marianna Koch Gayle Tschopp Elevator Manager Hesperian Editor Hesperian Manager 3

Our purpose in high school is to become educated not only through studying and gaining knowledge but also through taking part in activities which help us grow in our readiness for entrance into the busy and ever-progressing world. Into this volume we have placed a record of these activities as some of the memories of our high school days never to be forgotten. We dedicate this book to the under-classmen, who still have many happy and profitable high school days ahead of them. But we dedicate this yearbook especially to the seniors, whose high school days have swiftly passed and who will soon know these clubs and other activities only as memories. Thus, that the memories of our high school activities may endure, we have recorded them in the Hes- perian, a treasure chest of memories of the school year 1957-58.
