Freshmen Carry on Tradition The Freshmen girls' basketball team finished undeafeted with a 10-O record. The girls broke the scoring record by making 73 points against O'Neill. The team won first place in the Grand Island VICA Tournament. The leading scorers were Leisa Smedra and Gale Lewin. The leading rebounders were Smedra, Lewin, and Cindy Krolikowski, Coach Weber commented, Vile had a combination of height, quickness and good ball handling to give us an edge in many games. The reserve basketball team l had a successful season finishing with a 12-1 record. The team im- proved throughout the season since the season opening loss to GINVV, The leading scorers were Ann Lech, Kaylee Michalski, and Shannette Lewin. The leading re- . bounders for the season were Ann Lech and Kaylee Michalski. The areas the team improved the most in were the tastbreak and press, said Coach Huston. 3 Jr. High Team Improves 1 Back Row: Ann Holt, Flenee Haste, Dawn Markowski, Becky Edghill, Kellie Williams, Tiffany Clement, Carla Loft, Wanda Weir, Jaimie Anderson, Coach Rich Cecetka. Front Row: Erica Radil, Tara Timmerman, Dana Blum, Shelley Johnson, Patty Smith, Jennifer Pelton, Candi Hurlbert, and Kelly Cook. These were the Players for 1984-85. We had a good season with the two losses in close games. said Coach Cecetka. The Jr. High team played rather well dur- ing the 1984 season with a record of 3-2. The junior high team consisted of fourteen eighth graders and eight seventh graders. During the season the team learned a lot about the style of playing which will be a great asset in future years. The top rebounders for the team were Kellie Williams with 33, Dawn Markowski with 30, and Erin Konkoleski with 25. Scoring for the team were Kellie Williams with 52 points. Tiffany Clement and Patty Smith follow- ed with 19 and 13 respectively. Mr. Cecetka was pleased with the overall results and looks for- ward to next year's team.
