IN DEDICATION TO MISS JAN AGARD Jan Agard was born in Muskegon Michigan on July 2, 1946. She attended Reeths Puffer High School and graduated in 1964. She went on to Muskegon Community College and then to Western Michigan University to finish out her education. She began her teaching career at Orchard View High School, a job which lasted 19 years before she moved on to become an English Composition Instructor at Muskegon Community College, which is now her present occupation. We asked Miss Agard if she would like to make a few comments for us, she told us that It doesn ' t matter where you teach, it ' s the teaching that matters. and also that, Teaching is sharing a part of yourself with someone else, when this happens it is really nice. We also asked Miss Agard ' s students to make a few comments and this is what we got — Miss Agard was always smiling and having a good time. She made learning fun. Miss Agard was a different sort of teacher. She actually kept the kids interested in doing homework. She never had to demand or force. Miss Agard was the most energetic and fun teacher I have ever had. 1 think she would be a perfect president for the U.S. I don ' t think I ' ve known anyone with such a positive attitude all the time. She was always smiling, laughing, of making dumb puns. But, I have to admit that she usually brightened up the mornings of some of the sleepy and grumpy people in first hour. Miss Agard was my favorite teacher throughout high school. She always had a bright smile and a joke for you any time. Even if you were in a bad mood, she could bring you out of it. Miss Agard is missed very much by everyone. Miss Agard was a great teacher, she wanted us to learn, and genuinely cared about all her students. Our school has lost a great and caring person. She will be remembered by all of us.
