Girls The 1981 Lady Cardinals were one of the most exciting teams in the state. A potent, fast-breaking of- fense Caveraged 65.5 ppgl, and a stinging pressure defense Callowed 38.6 ppgl, earned them the supreme compliment of being named as the fl Class B Team by the Detroit Free Press in their final poll. This marked the first time in O.V. his- tory that any team has been so hon- ored. Among the many other highlights of '81 were a 4th consecutive Sea- way Conference Championship, in which a perfect 12-O mark was re- corded, a 2nd consecutive District Title, the extension of their Home Game win streak to 34, record scor- ing games of 93 8 94 points, and a record quarter of 43 points, an ex cellent regular season C19-15 and final record C22-213 the breaking of over 75 team and individual re- cords. The HCardsH were honored in many ways with senior Captain Teresa Anderson being named All-State lst Team and Colleen Gajeski receiving Honorable Mention. Teresa led the team and Area in scoring C4957 points, steals C1555 and assists Cl37D, while setting new team re- cords in scoring with 3h points in one game, and 1141 points in a car- eer. Colleen led the team in re- bounding C273Dg 2nd in scoringC326D steals Cl2OD, and assists C88D, and set the school record for steals in a game with 11. Colleen and Teresa were both All-Area Class A-B lst Team picks, with Wency Crummel f224 points, 217 reboundsl being accorded Honorable Mention. Teresa, Colleen and Wendy were selected All-Confer- ence lst Team while Lori Thomas and Sue Glotzbach received Honnrnh1p Mention recognition. 0.V.
