I remember the day I came to the high school. Unly a freshman and awed at all the upper-classmen. The ceilings were so high and the lockers were so tall. The halls were so large and so crowded. I remember fighting my way down the long, crowded halls trying to find my classes and trying to get there on time. That seems like only yesterday!! All my memories of 0.V. will travel with me wherever I go. I will miss Urchard View High School. Even more than the school, I will miss YUU, my friends. Friendship is what made school so important to me, and friendship will help us all through our rough times. I hope you can value the time you have with your friends, because four years is not a very long time. I would like to thank the wonderful class of l982 for their many years of friendship. Also, I would like to dedicate this book to the class with class--the class of l982!! Good lucky and may God bless you! Your friend, - UW ' C 121' , Sharon L. Their thirteenth year turned out to be the best year as far as raising money is concerned. The economy was down, but the O.V. kids were up as they went out and worked hard. Dixie Chase and Julie Poort definitely set the pace for all the class people who all worked. They did. Or- chard View should be very proud of the fact that the Kids for Kids Drive has been a success for 13 consecutive years, and now has a grand total of almost S25,000. The assistant superintendant and the high school principal are retiring after 19 and 23 years, respectively. John Polanyi, 55, assistant superintendant since the Jolman District annexed to Orchard View in 1963, said he believes 31 years is long enough to be in a profession. Prior to the annexation, he worked in the Jolman District for 12 years, working his way up from teacher to principal to superintendent. Gerald Sielski, also 55, and the only principal of Orchard View High School, echoed Mr. Polanyi's conviction. VAfter 325 years in this profession, I think it's time we let someone else have a chance,V said Sielski. They were only a few points off doubling second place Mona Shores score. This page and the next shows some of their other track victories. Alan Summerfield often won three first places in dual meets, did very well in big meets, and won his specialty, the 400, in everyrneet up to the state meet.
