The 1979-80 Varsity Basketball team consisted of ten juniors and only two seniors making it one of the youngest Orchard View teams ever. The team surprised many people by winning four out of their first five games and also five out of their last seven game s . The team was led by its co-captains Mike McCarty and Curtis Adams. McCarty was the team ' s leading rebounder with over thirteen per game. He was second in scoring with a healthy 14.6 points per game and received a first team selection to the All Conference team. Mike was also Honorable-Mention on the Muskegon Chronicle ' s A-B All Area team. Curtis Adams, the other co-captain, was this year ' s leading scorer with twenty points per game. He was selected to the All Conference team for the second year in a row and was chosen as a first team selection on this year ' s Muskegon Chronicle ' s A-B All Area team. The team placed third in the conference and finished the year with a 11-10 re- cord, and should be even better next year with the ten players returning. IBJ KmB ILIL 8j.
