I have met many challenges and accomplished many goals. School offers many things to us besides education. It also offers a chance to improve ourselves in athletics, journal- ism, debate, theatre, Workshop, etc... Even though we leave our school years behind us, our memories will be kept forever within our yearbooks ! I would like to offer a special thanks this year to our advisor B.C. Stellard. Without her assistance our book would not exist. Also, I would like to thank Julie Bredeweg and Dar- lene Rabe for their help on our book. I wish Mary Ochs the very best of luck on next year ' s book. I hope the rest of you returning students have a great future here at O.V. Fellow Seniors, life is very short; go out and live your life the best you know how. Someday I hope you can look back at the 19! and say, I was there when... yearbook Sincerely, Kent Postmus Editor-Imprint 1980. r WALKING THROUGH A iaips®5ras«§ ...Seniors Jim Keur and Barry Schaub did a very good job for the Cards? They both received metals in every Invitational. Barry represented OVHS in the Cross Country State-B Class Meet. Jim was injured three- quarters of the way but fin- ished sixth in the City Meet. Randy set a new freshmen re- cord;Lisa set a new Girl ' s re- cord; and Mike came within 15 seconds of breaking the good sophomore class record. Tony, Tammy and Craig ran a few good times. We would like to thank Coach Nash and his team of eight hard working runners. More good luck next year. f% ? 1M ' h Water! WUK2 ! Karen Decker, one of the teams co-captains, holds the record for the most points in a game (26). Jan Wierengo, the other co-captain, holds the rec- ord for most assists in a game (7) and season (93). Teresa Anderson tied the record for assists in a game and also set the record for most steals during a season with 110. Penny Allison holds the record for most steals in a single game with 11. The team ' s coach, Mr. Robert Chupp, believes that this year ' s team proved to be one of the finest in the area because of their individual strengths in combination with team balance. He was quoted as saying, I believe the 1979 Girl ' s Basketball Team was the most dynamic team I have ever coached. Their talent was outstanding and they exemplified a winning attitude at all times. With the return of three starters, a good summer, and a lot of hard work, the 1980 team should be a fine represent- ative of Orchard View Basketball. The coach, Mr. Robert Scandary, feels that this year ' s team was involved in more head game ' s. He is quoted, I feel that this year ' s team im- proved both in the physical and emotional aspect of the game. To play well is easy, but to keep your cool while doing it is quite another story. Consis- tent shoots and volleys accompanied with good first serves were some of the growth seen during the season. With the returning team mem- bers involvement in summer tennis programs , Orchard View should be a strong contender for the 1 spot next year. 161 r SCOTT I Ml ICTUS William EAne t Henley Out oh the night that covca me, Black. a the Pit Ixom pole to pole, thank whatever god may be Foa my unconqu.eA.able oul.
