Now, however, we can say that she has made a lasting impres- sion on us, for it was she who first made us aware of our class as a unit working toward a common purpose. She advised us as a class and was never too busy to advise us as indi- viduals. In grateful recognition, then, of her tireless and unselfish effort, we dedicate this yearbook. We don't know how much we learned this year -but we've had plenty of experience. This year the yearbook was strictly a Senior Class project. We had new ad- visors, a new publisher, and a complete- ly baffled Editor-in-Chief. We Dance It was the night of june 6th. The air was warm and sweet-the moon was high. lt was a night t0 dream, to dance, to love! At nine o'clock, young ladies with their escorts arrived at the Orchard Park Country Club to attend the junior Prom. The club house, a profusion of greens and garden flowers, was a perfect setting for the attractive couples as they whirled to and fro to the strains of jack Rosenbaeh's music. The highlight of the evening arrived when Betty Romance, beautiful in her white net and lace gown, 1 . , P 'Ns -l 1.1 A .- 4 A .N il ' sf l 1 ' ' Q 1 .lf 1 , , 4 JW . .2 t ji. , ll., . , L, A 6 v V, , , 2 Y N ', .. ' 5' ,Twas the night after Christmas and all through the house . . . , but there the old jingle stops for the school gymnasium was Hlled with stirring crea- tures who had come to attend the Snow Ball, spon- sored by the Senior Class. Indeed, the dance was a holiday reunion for many. The heady smell of ever- green boughs greeted the dancers as they whirled 'round the large and gaily decorated Christmas tree. An ingenious arrangement at each end of the gym sprinkled artificial snow on the dancing figures below, thus adding a realistic and romantic touch to the af- fair. The strains of music bv Clayton Fahle's Orches- tra wafted on to the cool, tingling air and prompted many to look ahead in hopes of an equally enjoyable Senior Ball next year. N 'W g 'T lx fo i - . Basketball, coached by Mrs. Schram, has had the greatest influence on the girls, in- as much as they have participated in tough competiton against such schools as North Collins, East Aurora, Springville, and West Seneca. Through these games, the girls have experienced sportsmanship, team work, and the ability to smear 'em. We had four intra-mural teams: The Freshman, Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors. These teams have shown great interest in winning games, as the winning one will play the woman's faculty. To prove what one hundred per cent athletes our girls are, they also, along with their other sports, formed bowling teams for the first part of the year. They met once a week and bowled competitively against each other. Anyone who has seen them in action will agree that we have some marvelous bowlers in our midst. , Y fN Yi' 3 V I T3 15 X11 1 if X .i - ll .' as 0. In x i , ,, 1 Kg ' -may ' -Q . ,Q +1 'Q . V . L . Most of us know by now that this is the site for our new school. All through the winter and spring, hammers have been clanking and motors have been roaring. Every day some grade school class troops out to stand along the sidewalk on Lincoln Avenue and to stare in wonder at the proceedings. All of this started one cold, clear Sunday back in january. The first part of the ground-breaking ceremonies was conducted in the auditorium. The Rev. W. T. S. Culp gave the invocation, and Dr. F. O. Cummings, Dean of Education of the University of Buffalo, was the principal speaker. Then, while the band played, everyone moved out- side and across the street to a place marked by a solitary little red flag. With yearbook flashbulbs popping constantly, the Board of Education consisting of Mr. Gates, Mr. Boldt, Mr. Godfrey and Mr. Steiner, Mr. Buell, the District Superintendentg Miss Duer, the faculty representative, Miss Marilyn Bush, the Senior Class president, and our three principals, Mr. Handel, Mrs. Parris, and Mr. Coplai, all took part in the actual breaking of the ground. The mixed chorus sang Beautiful Savior, and the Rev. Dr. Verduin pronounced the benediction. x 5 4 .
