Her influence in Orchard Park goes far beyond her drawing boards, for she teaches more than art. By kindly example, by self-effacing devotion she helps mold young lives. And it is no exaggeration to say that she has the respect of every student she has taught. Ready with praise, never blaming, never complaining, here is a teacher whose classes think of her as a friend before ever they leave the grades. There is no guiding hand that we clasp more sincerely than yours, Miss Sager, as we prepare to leave this school. We are the better having had you as a teacher, we shall remember you as a friend. - THE CLASS OF 1943 r N! K X 1 J 5 3 . 3- 122? fi I v Hi' -e ,f-- w 1135: ff r '. - .4 . H :IRQ Sp Q. These books are to be selected by Dr. Johnson and a committee of Senior lligh School teachers. We believe we could do nothing that would benefit the community more than this, and we hope we are setting an example that may inspire future graduating classes to help build a finer library for boys and girls of Orchard Park. 17 18 114215 ' R . . :Z , 3 5, ii? cl - fi . 1 'V 1 , 1. xxax-' J. f 2:5 g,155,.i , T 'f:3'1.',fir, -4, , . ,,,,4q.e:--ii215.' ..,, . .. A Service Club replaced the Student Council this year. Twenty girls became the first members., and under the guidance of Miss Wantshouse did a splendid job. Whether it was decorating the school for the Christmas season. handling the Red Cross drive or doing the work at basketball games, these girls were on the job. When the soldiers needed books, the Service Club stepped into the picture and handled the drive that sent big boxes of books to the men in uniform. They sponsored a Scrap Drive Dance that helped build a fund for cigarettes for men in the service, and this spring they had the brilliant idea that the school should buy ajeep. lt took some hard work but, with the cooperation of students and teachers. Orchard Park lligh School bought a jeep in a War Bond campaign. The Service Club, if this year's work is a sample, promises to be one of the most useful organizations in the Orchard Park High School. 48 CAMERA III. Things such as our Scrap Drive and the Senior Play may grow dim in the future, but that is why we published this book-to help us remember. We are making it for ourselves and for you so you also will remember us, and recall what you were like in 1943. It may not be in here, but when you see the picture of the swing band you'll recall the time Brooksie started to play the wrong number. The picture of the Senior Salute Staff will remind you of the time the art editor put Senior Slams on the cover and mimeographed it before the mistake was discovered. If you don't recall the time the trumpet section petered out during Midnight In Paris, you will when looking at the band picture. The pictures of ,I im and Dick make us think how glad we are that intermediate algebra is over, and the time Jim said, Make mine a short beer when Mr. Saul shouted, Order, order, please! Look at the square dance pictures. Remember the first one when everybody got dizzy and fell down? The picture of Mr. McCarty brings back memories of the experiment that exploded and hit the ceiling. A few faculty members will remember that during Adam and Eva rehearsals Adam said, lim a homely, loneless man. Looking at the picture of Mr. Spears we think of his neckties: black and white checked, and most of all the pink one. The one of Mr. Saul being demonstrative recalls the heated discussions in History class about plastic houses or juvenile delinquency. Glance through the book again and see how much of your school life it brings to mind. llere's hoping that when you read this REFLECTOR you will remember us as we will for- ever remember you.
