Kelley Godel This play takes place in the waiting room of a small wayside railroad station on a dark and stormy night. A train is derailed and a conglomerate mixture of people are thrown together to wait for a relief train. As they are waiting a crime takes place. Someone has stolen Mrs. Vanderventer’s pearls. Miss Pidgie McDougal snoops around and finds them in Mrs. Guarino’s lunch basket. Mrs. Guarino says she is innocent and that she never took them. Bill Lindsay believes her story and announces that he is going to hold a preliminary trial. In a very clever way he clears Mrs. Guarino and exposes the guilty party. Just as they are ready to spend the night. Silas, who works around the station announces the relief train is coming. 28
