MEMORIES ARE MADE OF THIS Class Hlstory Orbrsoma Hugh School opened IIS doors on September 4 1952 to elghty frve confused but happy freshmen who entered the gym to look over therr new home We were placed under the care of Mlss Blocher Mr Farner and Mr Yettcr who helped us to get settled 1n our new surroundings Durlng the followmg weeks we grew better acquamted Soon after we were rnltlated by the senrors of 1952 durmg a special assembly tMuch to theur delight and our em barrassment J We were advised to elect offlcers and choose our class flower motto and colors Those named to lead us were president Nancy Enyeart vrce presrdent Bonme Potts secretary Lourse Hol den and treasurer Carol Montgomery Maroon and Gold were selected as our class colors the Red Rose our flower and Be Ye Ever of Good Cheer our motto Some tlme durrng our flrst year Orbrsonra Hlgh School became one member of a jolnture 1nd rts name was changed to Orblsoma Area Jomt Hlgh School We sponsored a square dance and a bake mgton D C Thrs year passed very raprdly and soon we reallzed that the following term we would enter senlor hlgh school Our second year began with much rejoxclng rs we met former classmates rn our old home rooms Agam Mlss Blochcr and Mr Yetter were appointed our advlsors As sophomores we elected to serve as presl dent Nancy Enyeart vlce presldent Wendell Glunt secretary Marlene Kaylor and treasurer Shlrley Morgan We had two or three square dances during the wmter months The followlng sprung we all were pleased to be able to attend an unusual event because our school was chosen to be host to the Huntmg don County Band Festrval Mr Paul E Carson of West Chester State Teachers College was guest conductor A number of our classmates partlcrpated very capably Some of our group attended the Jumor Semor Prom rn May when the decoratlons for the delightful event remmded us that our school was celebrating the slxtneth anmversary of the flrst graduating class of the Orbrsonra Hugh School Thrrty Almost three weeks later we sand good bye to our classmates and left to spend a pleasant three months vacatlon at home We returned as a happy junlor class rn Sep tember 1954 to start the third year of our hugh school career The officers elected for this year were Ruth Locke presrdent Marlene Kaylor vnce presrdent Carol Montgomery secretary and Shnrley Shmg lcr treasurer Mr Yettcr was our class advlsor The flrst bug project m our jumor year was the sellmg of Prom Peanuts to earn money for our treasury One mornmg rn October we were called to the gym to select our class rmgs After much dlscusslon we made our cholce The rmgs ar rlved ln time for Christmas and we were mlghty proud to display them Old Doc was our class play whrch we presented on March 25 1955 Many hours of hard work were spent rn preparmg our produc tlon nevertheless we all enjoyed dolng lt Old Doc fFred .lamrsonj should have practtced hrs professlon more realrstlcally because he drdnt prevent Mr Kimmel s bemg taken 111 several days before the date for our performance arrlved Be cause of the plnch hrttmg of some of the Faculty we staged our play while Mr Klmmel sat rn the audience Ca most unusual sltuatlonj ln two evenmgs time durlng the flrst week ln May 1955 we junlors converted the gym 1n to Gal Paree with 1ts attractive slde walk cafes set under blue and whlte strlped awnmgs around three stdes of the room To the delightful musrc of the Seven Notes we our honored guests the Class of 55 and the Faculty enjoyed an Evenmg m Pans Shortly before the end of the term we elected the Edrtor ln chlef and Busrness Manager of the PIONEER Sandra Magown was honored wlth the appomtment as edrtor whale Gene Scott was chosen to carry the other responslbrlrty After a three months rest we returned m September to begun our fmal year ln OAJHS We lmmedlately held an electron of offlcers as we knew there would be much buslness to transact For presrdent we chose Nancy Enyeart vrce prestdent Carol Montgomery secretary Norma I-Iolllbaugh and treasurer Sandra Magown Mr Yetter was made our guardian for the fourth tlme 4, in 7 ' - l 5 1 I 9 ' ' 1 - 4 - - - , Q 9 ka , 5 ' .. . - . q . .
