ORATORY 86-MORRISTOWN 41 Thc Rams won another game to continue their win- ning streak by defeating Morristown, 86-41. Jack Quinn, with his fancy hooks from both sides, scored 30 points. Until the third quarter the game was close, but then the Blue and Gold drew away and totaled 86 points. Sherman and Perna had 18 and 14 points respec- tively. john Greely and Don Smith scored 8 points each. ORATORY 55-COLLEGE HIGH 54 The second meeting of these teams proved to be a thriller also, but this time the Rams avenged their former defeat by eking out a 55-54 win, in overtime, The fans certainly enjoyed a fine exhibition, as each club matched basket for basket, standing 50 all at the end of regular time. In the overtime, john Quinn's final foul shot proved to be the difference in the teams. Quinn was outstanding with 28 points. Don Smith with 10 points and Greely and Sherman with 8 apiece, also played a great game. It was a fine win. NEWARK ACADEMY DROPS SECOND TO RAMS, 76-63 Newark Academy lost their second game to the Rams on their home court, 76-63. The Rams started rolling with a 9 point lead in the first quarter, leading by eleven points at the half. john Quinn scored 13 points in the first half and 18 in the second for the large total of 31 points. The third quarter proved to be much closer, as the Academy climbed to within 8 points of the Rams. Sherman racked up 21 points, Greely was next with 10, while Perna, a sophomore, had 8. It was an ex- citing and enjoyable game. ORATORY TOPS BAYLEY ELLARD IN SECOND MEETING, 70-66 The Rams topped Bayley Ellard of Madison in their second meeting 70-66, in a closely matched contest on Bayley Ellard's home court. Oratory trailed by 1 point at the end of the first quarter but regained a comfortable lead at the half time, leading by six points. The Bishops started to climb slowly back and tied the Rams several times. At the end of the third per- iod they were just short by 4 points. However, Ora- tory had a little too much for them. Walt Sherman took scoring honors in this one with 23 points. Quinn had 11, D. Smith and Greely scored 10 apiece. Perna with 9, and A. Smith with 7 points completed the scorings in an interesting game. ORATORY 79-EASTERN ACADEMY 64 The Rams were all set for Eastern Academy as they met them for the last game of the season at St. Te- resa's Hall, and defeated them 79-64. It was a very exciting game as the Rams did not ac- quire a comfortable lead until the third period. jack Quinn scored 23 points in his last game for the Rams. Walt Sherman' and John Greely were right behind him with 22 points each. Al Smith 5, Don Smith 3, Bob Perna and Bill Funk with 2 each, also scored. ORATORY CENTER CRACKS NEW JERSEY STATE RECORD Pouring 81 points through the hoop, jack Quinn, a 6-4 Oratory center, set a state scholastic scoring rec- ord as he led Oratory to an easy 106 to 53 trouncing of St. Bernard's, February 5th, Quinn, a 195 pound senior, played the entire game, netting 35 points in the first half and 46 in the second half, mostly on deadly right-handed hook -shots. His 81 point total bettered a New jersey individual scoring mark of 75 points made 40 years ago by Frank McDermitt of St. Benedict's in 1914, against St. A-u- gustine School of New York, Quinn hit double figures in practically all of the 19 games this season. jack's annual total was 439 points and his game average was 23.1 points,
