Abxezzl: Xllfilliam Schweikert. .7!Le ofafin The Latin Club under the direction of Mr. joseph Sheridan, is composed of selected stu- dents from all the Latin classes of the school. The purpose of the club is the study and discus- sion of a variety of subjects connected with the Latin language. In regular meetings, outside of class hours, many worth-while hours are en- joyed. From a cultural standpoint, the glories of an- 64 cient Rome, as seen in her history, architecture and archeology are most beneficial. Rome il:- self, with its famous churches and historic sites, is to say the least, interesting and intriguing, The keen interest which the students display in both the study and discussion of these varied topics would seem to indicate that Latin is not a dead language.

It aims to arrange suitable social activities for the students and to help finance our school pa- per The Echoes . On both counts, the com- mittee this year can take a bow, as it was most successful. During the year, Newman Hall was trans- formed many times, by artistic decoration, as well as by the gaiety and color of youth. The Mothers' Club was on hand, at each occasion, to dispense a pleasing variety of refreshments. We must mention the fact, that our dances went big-time , as Vic-Trola yielded to a six piece bandg a thing, hitherto unheard of, in our an- nals. The dance committee deserves credit for a job well done.
