O. in Orangeville with Dean Saaijenga acting as Commander. In the spring of the year on shore duty we gave the Petty Officers llc a banquet at the Senate's U. S. O. Club in Freeport with the theme of garden flowers in pastel shades. We went home on our last shore leave beofre getting ready for overseas duty. On returning from our last three month's shore leave, there were only 27 of us Petty Officers lfc that came back ready to fight the battle. Seaman Jesse Jacobs was promoted to Rear Admiral and Seaman Vivian Mills to Vice Admiral. Seaman Aileen Hofer acted as Admiral and Jean Shippy Paymaster. Dean Saaijenga and Florence Fink gave commands. Iola Lausch, after receiving a medical discharge from the WAC's of 1944, joined up with the WAVES Some of the officers and at Orangeville in 1945. crew took part at the U. S. O. at Orangeville in giving a three act comedy entitledUGrowing Palnsn, Commanding Officer. On Dena Saaijenga acting as May 24. l945'after having won the Battle of Orange eville twenty-seven of the Petty Officers llc re- ceived their papers for overseas duty. ,s-J 1 eg, Q,
