Thirty-eight of ns EAVES and sailors went into Boot Training at Orangeville Navel Training Station, Bernard Hurless immediately became Chief Petty Officer. Acting es Petty Officer lfc was Vivien lille and Teymeeter wee Leo Phillies. Admi' ral ?oy Hefty gave orders. Annrentioe Seaman Lois Frenzel was transferred to the destroyer HMonroe.H Annrentice Qeamen Leo Phillies, Maurice Smith, Eldon Scheider, Roberta Foman, and Duane ?eertsch1 were discharged., We snonsered e skating narty at Monroe, each one inviting e snecial Navy Pier guest. We gave a retvrn party at the U. Q. O. for the Seaman lfo who initiated us Orengeville when we entered Boot Training. After strugyling through Eoot Training we got our first lesve. After an enjoyable three month's leeve thirty-one of us returned to Boot Camp es Seemen Efc. Aileen Hofer was Dromoted Lieutenant making Norma Andrews a Lieutenant Cj.g.J. Doris Zimmerman wee eromoted to en Ensign and Jean Shieny acted as Paymaster. Shaffer issued commands. Eeamenlefc Marilyn I. O. heinzer, Betty Miller, Oherles Schroeder were tra- nsferred to Games Freenort, Walworth, end Dakota respectively. Gilbert Zentner, and Nathan Rupnow were discharged, We initiated the Apprentice Sea- men that were inducted into our training station. On a short weeksend leave we enjoyed a meal given by the U. S, Ot Freeport and other activities in the city. Another three month's leeye and twentyfnine Seamen Zfc returned, being advanced to shore duty, Seam- an Fred Kummer was promoted to Captain and Jesse Jacobs our Uommander, Vivian Mills acted as our Lt. Commander and Paymaster, Miriam Rheinebaoh and Eloise Driscoll iireoted the crow, 'Seaman Carol Jeanne Knotts, Shirley Reeser, Dolores Daws, wand Ernie Wellman were transferred from Camps Freeport, Winslow, Cedarville. and Mt. Horeb. Seamen Norma Andrews and Bernard Hurlees fell into the Sea of Matrimony and got washed ashore on the desolate island of Rock Grove. Seaman Dalen Wich- man was transferred to the Cavalry.
