This book is colled the Orange ond White. In it you will see the lives of 1800 people high school students . 1965-1966 ir our town The name of our town is Orange, Califor- nia, Population: 70,000. Area: 15 square miles. It ' s located 32 miles southeast of Los Angeles .14 miles from the Pacific Ocean Right in the center of Orange County. As port of the Rancho de Santiago de Santo Ana, o Spanish land grant, the land was cultivated for orange groves. Andrew Glassell and A B Chapman come around in 1870 and laid out the town Orange, Cali- fornia. Incorporated April 6, 1888. A lot of changes since those days. People moved in from Iowa ond New York and Illi- nois and oil over Groves were cut down And houses put up. The people haven ' t changed so much, though. We still enjoy the fragrance of orange blossoms — if we con find a grove. We still like to admire the colored lights in the Plozo around Christmas time. We still like to fol- low the activities of the school . . . and watch young lives develop.
