, Court, House of Reps., Senate . We try to be as democratic as we can m our student government here. We ' ve got two different houses. The House of Represen- tatives and the Senate. Each third period class sent a represen- tative to the House. They ' ve met the first Friday of every month. They ' ve brought up a lot of new ideas this year. And a lot of people have participated . . . good background for living here in our society. Senate ' s made up of all the club presidents. The ASB vice-president presides over the Senate. That ' s been Tim Bartshe ' s job this year. Senate sort of coordinates club activi- ties. This year they did a lot of work with inter-club competition for campus cleanup. Each club was responsible for keeping clean a certain area. It worked pretty good. HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES: Bill Reynolds. It ' s their )ob to mold the attitudes of the whole student body Sort of set the pace, you might say. Awfully important. This year they ' ve spent a lot of time working to solve problems like vandalism and litter and smoking. Jeff Allen ' s been the Chief Justice He ' s interested in student government Interested in seeing students gov- ern students Jeff ' s had a lot of good ideas . . and a lot of ambition. We had two foreign students . . . Maria and Paula. Over there on the far left, dressed in her national costume, is Paula Homalamen . . . lively, bubbly . . and smart and friendly . . . o delightful Finnish blonde. Paula likes gymnastics There ' s o picture of her performing for us at the talent as- sembly. Back in Finland she was champion of all the secondary schools. Our other foreign student was from Spain, Maria Donaque. That ' s her there standing by the globe. Maria likes music and concerts . and theaters and museums. Cultural type things, guess you could say And she loves to sing. And ploy the guitar. We ' re all pretty proud of Kathy Nielsen. She got to spend a year down in Brazil. Had wonderful time . . . learning the language, meeting people, understanding them . . and representing Orange High . . . and all America. The kids in AFS hove worked hard this year. Helping our foreign students. Raising money . . selling cokes at games, sponsor- ing a dance, having a bottle drive. And they worked on an entry for our town ' s May Festi- val Parade. i i 30 I
