Barbara's close runners-up from the senior class were Mary Barry and Roxanne Poulos. The rest of her court consisted of 11th grade, Lisa Pursleyg 10th grade, Beth Fergus, and 9th grade Leigh Green. It turned out to be a big success, with many under- classmen owning seniors for two days. To ovsm a slave you had to bid, starting at 756. The person who bid the highest got the slave he had bid for. The sen- iors enthusiastically dressed and acted as their owners ordered. It turned out to be two days filled with fun and frolic for all those involved, and even those watching enjoyed themselves. 1972 Gzlendwr' The 1972 O.P.H.S. Calendar was sponsored by the Cutlass Staff. Representatives from each grade collected penny votes and those with the most money won the con- test. The two seniors Who will be featured on the front cover will be Skipp Gwinn and Donna Coleman. The winners for each month ap- pear throughout the rest of the calendar in their respective months. QW'- Ti l fi' t 1 ootball season-1971: High hopes, many apprehensions. The inexperienced line worked to gain experience and ucceeded. The seniors this year made up one third of the varsity team. For them it was the last season, the ast chance to play football at Orange Park. With determination and work, Coach Criswell led the team in an ll-out effort and prepared them for the ten tough games they had to face. End of the season, great moments o be remembered for a long time. The Raiders worked hard to play well. This was not their winning year, but here were outstanding plays. All of the Raider fans of OPHS united in pride and knowledge, and formed one . . the Raider spirit. 1972, 'Raiders in Action Gary Sphine, Manager. The Raiders' Big 5 played a truly beautiful game of basketball each time they met with their opponents. They hit the boards constantly, bringing the team closer and closer to their ultimate victory. The Varsity Raiders finished their regular season with a record of 15 and 5, and a Conference record of 12 and 2. Due to the overwhleming Raider spirit and attendence at this year's games, the Florida Star Conference Tournament was held in the Raiderdome on Feb. 17, 18, and 19. Of course, the Riaders came out winning the Conference trophy! It was a great honor to the students of OPHS to have the Confer- ence Tournament held in their own school two years in a row. The Raiders then went to the District Tournament at Bolles and af- ter three nights of grueling competition, left with the coveted Dis- trict Tournament Champions trophy. For the third year in a row the Raider team traveled to the Regional Playoffs taking the spirit and confidence of the school along with them. This just goes to show that when a fantastic basketball team and Loyal Raider Spirit are combined, the result can only turn out to be BEST! Congratulations goes to our fine basketball team and the excellent leadership of Coach Ron Brummitt. Without his guidance, the team would never have been the great team they were.
