RS K I 0 W ff f I I 1 ff s 4, IZ eg! liz I 1 'xy Kp gg ENIURS 60 v M QM, W f 1' f 7 ff f .V ,, 1 sg 445 W f ef' WMV ,v f .O I 1 V,. :,:l I - ass gastory Of the 20 Semors g aduat1ng 1n 1956 from ORANGE TOWNSHIP HIGH SCHOOL Erma Trent Harvey Hess Iudy Kerr Beverly Stlrm Hugh Knapp Ierry Saylor Gary Kl1ne Iohn Kotscher and Elvern Be1nfang began the1r schoollng 1n first grade and have remained together all through school Our teacher 1n f1rst grade was M1ss Ch1lds One thlng we will always remember about first grade was our da1ly rest penods after lunch We also remember when Harvey made an apron for Iudy and M1ss Childs and how Gary was always s1ck unt1l after readmg class In second grade Robert Schrelber Jomed forces with us Our teacher was M1ss Tack Whenever we look back at second grade we can see our clothes dry1ng out on the rad1ators Th1rd grade found us belng led by Erma for she was the r1ngleader Th1s year we spent all of our recesses play1ng house under the flre escape and cave man under the evergreens M1ss Kllne was our teacher Robert Relter Jomed us 1n fourth grade M1ss McCoskey was our teacher th1s year Wh1le 1n fourth grade we bullt a hut 1n the evergreens and saw Sleeplng Beauty at T C Our hero for the year was Dan1el Boone Mrs Crane and M1ss Elllott saw us through all of our d1ff1cult1es 1n f1fth grade The g1rls all got their excerclse at recess because Harvey was always chasing them and trying to k1ss them Sixth grade found us with another g1rl Darl1us Remers It was in sixth grade when Harvey came 1n contact w1th a dead skunk at recess and had to s1t in the furnace room all day Seventh grade the year we had all been looking forward to when we could go upstairs and s1t 1n the assembly but we all got fooled because we happened to be the f1rst class to not s1t 1n the assembly Instead we made our home 1n Mrs Orrick's room Our class really increased in number when Paydlllis Cone Ramona Saul Bert Wasser Bonn1e Thompson Don Cole and Robert Zwanz1ger came th1s year Th1s year Beverly and Iudy were always f1ght1ng over Robert Zwanz1ger and Don Cole and we learned a lot about tapeworms and l1pst1ck from Mr Penny We became musiclans th1s year when we organ1zed a Tonette orchestra Elghth grade found us with one more classmate Mar1lyn Ak1n One thing we all remember was Mrs Culbertson's hab1t of asking people to leave class for playing cat and mouse and for passmg notes Our favorlte pastime 1n ninth grade 'was play1ng W1nkum Bonnie lost her shoe this year and found it ln Mr Cottrell s desk drawer Carlene Brower Jo1ned us 1n tenth grade We had two part1es this year that we remember the hayrlde on the last day of school, and the hayride Erma had ln Ianuary at ten degrees below zero Eleventh grade was our busy year Our prom was on Apnl 29th and the theme was Stair way to the Stars We also sold Christmas and greeting cards picked up corn and sold candy at the ball games to make money Our Iuruor play was on May 4th and 5th A lot of hard work and fun was had producmg the play We shall remember Mr Cottrell and his pat1ence W also rece1ved our cherished class rlngs This year Jerry was real gone over Fay In our semor year we came back to school to fxnd nearly all new teachers We all re member 'Harvey s Hayrlde Those of us who went w1ll always remember the fun we had at tending the R Y P convention We also started to work a lot harder on the Orange Peelings than we had 1n our jumor year The Sen1or play was postponed because of the work on the new buildmg We had our graduatlon and annual plctures taken in November and also picked out our announcements The annual staff was chosen and we all started very busily to work on The Tiger Our school days at Orange are now over but as we leave the halls of O T H S with all of 1ts memories we realize that life for us is just beginning G! This year the Orange Basketball team had three returning lettermen: Bob Schreiber, Dick Schreiber, and Gerald Nelson. Picked to fill the re- maining of the squad were Hugh Knapp, Iack Bridges, Don Cole, Fred Bridges and Davie Sallee. Orange finished fourth place in the County Tournament, and had a record of two wins and eight losses in the Cedar Consolidated Conference, putting us in sixth place . Our season record was six wins and fifteen losses . The leading scorer was Dick Schreiber with a 20.9 average for the season. The free-throw award also went to Dick Schreiber. The captains elected by the squad at the end of the season were Dick and Bob Schreiber. Larry Billing was high point man for the second team with a 7.8 average for the season. They finished with a record of 5 wins and 8 losses.
