I I ' 1 A .1-, 1 I 2 1.4 QQ W , g ,ff M I awr ifi' 7 f' 1 , V - , History What were to be the Sen1ors of 1955 started out as just the l1ttle f1rst graders 1944 M155 M1sk1mmon5 lucky g1r1 gu1ded us through our f1r5t bew1lder1ng year Orange She must have done a pretty good Job for e1ght of us Lorna Stahr Don She eley Sh1rley Putney Ronald Pulhn Jeannme Peck Barbara Nelson Claud1a Chr1st ensen and Mary Kay Bechtelhe1mer l1ked Orange well enough to complete twelve ye ars there The next year we had M155 Tack for our teacher Several new pup1ls came to Jo1n us 1n learn1ng that hard schoolwork' M155 Kl1ne gu1ded us through our th1rd year at Orange She may even have gu1ded some of us 1nto the hall for one reason or another' When we got to fourth grade one teacher wasn t enough so we had both M155 Carl son and M155 Elhott G1v1ng book reports became qu1te a race because of those pr1zes M155 Ell1Ott gave We had the same room for f1fth grade that we had had for fourth I guess we just couldn't bear to leave 1t'7' ' M155 Carlson and M155 Ell1ott were able to l1ve through one year w1th us so they tr1ed It for another year We moved to M155 Elllott s room for s1xth grade and got one new teacher M155 McCoskey Some romances started that year I wonder 1f they came because of the softball games we had w1th the boys stand1ng the gl1'lS7' stars on the Junlor h1gh basketball team and the g1r1s had to cheer them on It was just a l1ttle b1t confus1ng to us at f1r5t upsta1rs but we soon managed to get around as 1f we owned the place In e1ghth grade we were Stlll 1n the sa me row of seats 1n the assembly but some of the g1rls were more mterested 1n the n1nth grade row We had several part1es that year most of whlch COHSlStEd of our meet1ng at the school and go1ng roller 5kat1ng Well' At last we were 1n h1gh school Many of us went out for mus1c basketball and baseball Some were pretty good some not so good but we all had lots of fun do 1ng 1t Be1ng sophomores meant that lt wouldn't be long before we would be out of Orange for good We began to thmk of choos1ng our careers But after all we st1ll had two more years to go Our Jumor year was a year we looked forward to It meant sel11ng at ballgames hav1ng paper dr1ves and scrap dr1ves all to make money for the Jumor Sen1or Ban quet 1n Apr1l After much d15cu5s1on we dec1ded to have as our theme Moonl1ght and Roses Our class r1ngs arr1ved ln January but some of them left the boy's imgers for some reason' At last' We are 1n our last year at Orange It's exc1t1ng but a l1tt1e sad too to be leav1ng here for good Some of us w1ll go on to college some w111 go to work, and some can't seem to make up the1r m1nd what to do But I m sure we'll all look back on our schooldays as some of the happ1est days of our l1ves . . . . of . . . .
