Front Row Dick Summerhays, Paul Brown, Coach Miller Second Row Larry Weigle, Bob Jeffries Roy Glessner, Roger Osgood Bmlezlbaff The Orange team this year was built around two lettermen, Dick Summerhays and Roy Gles sner Larry Welgle, Roger Osgood and Paul Brown formed the first team with Bob Jeffries the number one reserve One of the best seasons in recent years was enjoyed by the Tigers as they were vic torious in 1l of 19 ball games The Tigers finished in third place in the Cedar Consolidated Conference with a 6 4 rec ord A high scoring team was turned out this season as they scored 825 points for an aver- age of 45.5 points per game. Opponents scored 767 points for an average of'a40.5 points a game. Dick Summerhays was way out in front of the scoring with 242 points. Every member of the first team was high point man in at least one game this year. iLarry Weigle was top free throw man with 59 . Dick Summerhays was elected most valuable player, while Larry Weigle was chosen team captain. The second team was somewhat less fortu- nate as they won 5 and lost ll for the year. The record for the year: Jesap Geneseo Dunkerton SECTIONALS 51 Shell Rock 45 52 O L V A Aplington 556 Q An inexperienced Orange Baseball team struggled through the fall games with l win against 6 setbacks. Roy Glessner did most of the pitching, al- though he received help from Larry Weigle, Dick Summerhays and Keith Jones. Summerhays and Glessner did the catching. Roger Osgood hit .588 to lead the team in batting. Roy Glessner was chosen captain and Roger Osgood was elected most valuable player by the team.
