QF Nineteen S z'x1Q2-Six This little piggie went to market . . . The Class of '66 has shown its leadership ability in academic, social, and athletic endeavors. The seniors in general have excelled in scholar- ship, but have diversiHed their interests, as can be seen through the wide range of schools they will attend. The 'lTeahouse of the August Moon and The Night of january 16th,, proved to be the most success- ful plays ever presented at Orange High School, not only through material gains for the Class of '66, but through intellectual experiences realized by the participants as well. Four senior members of the football team were unanimously chosen to the All-League defensive team, while the bowling team, anchored by seniors, reigned victoriously as City Champions. A senior won the distinction of being the first wrestler from Orange to go to the State Tournament. In the spring, the golf and tennis teams brought further recognition and honor to Orange and to the Class of '66. 1 23 Wally, stop that! 3 'GY' Carol Akers Susan Angell Georgeann Battiato .Iames Benes fu, '5. The Class of ,67 was as active as any otherg they charmed the audiences with g'The Father of the Briden, planned the Jr.-Sr. Prom at the Shaker House, and pioneered the new school ring. In addition to these activities the .juniors carry a heavy academic load, which in- cludes Chemistry, U.S. History, American Lit., and Algebra II. Among the distinguish members of the class are Debbie Studs- guard, our A.F.S. representative in Iran for the summer, Spencer and Mike-the leaders, and the Bob Youngs-the athletes. What's my line? Watch a pro 48 Rocky the flying squirrel ? The excitement and tension of wedding prepara- tions were vividly presented by the junior Class in its production of THE FATHER OF THE BRIDE on March Z7 SL 28. Through the great acting and adlibbing of the cast and the leads, Brian Akers, Sue Albrecht, Leslie Davies, and jim Heard, and under the direction of Mrs. Bar- bara Pape, the Class of '67 created a delightful evening of entertainment. Indeed spirit ran high, for the dance followed the first pep rally, the first football game, the Hrst victory of the year. As well as making new friends, stu- dents met for the first time the now popular band, the Rebel Kind. The theme was Welcome a-Go-Go and as the name indicates, the dance set the pace for an ex- citing and fast-moving year. r MILITARY BALL was highlighted by the crowning of vivacious head majorette Corde Helms, escorted by Dale Caldwell. Corde was attended by Beverly Blair and Dave Stenger, Melissa Markey and Bill Scheerer, Marie Suchy and Dick Dunfee, and Martha Wright and Tom Saby. The Dance followed a dinner honoring all band members and majorettes. It was an enjoyable reward for a season of hard work and fine performances. The Court KILL The Royal Couple THE topped the Autumn Leavesn weekend with music by the Upstarts. The cafeteria was appropriately decorated with large painted leaves surrounding the Queen and her court. Queen Sue Carleton, escorted by -jim Benes, was crowned by Mr. Richard Nlorvilius at the Orange-Twinsburg football game October 8. Sue's attendents were Debbie Cirincione and Ted Mazzulo, Barb Cook and -Ion Munson, Sally March and Ken Wright, and Pam Wise and Bill Kaspers. The rainy, wet weather hardly dampened the spirits of all those who attended the First major dance ofthe year. King-john Myers 4 L ,AH-vQ. .119 78 I heightened the usual excitementand anticipation of the holiday season. On the night of December 18, the gym was transformed into a glittering spectacle of winter scenes ac- centing the theme Silver Bells . This year's formal was sponsored by all the girls' clubs including Y-Teens cheerleaders, Gals, Oflice As- sistants, Future Nurses, and Usherettes. A multitude of bands provided the music as the peak of excitement came as john Myers was crowned King of the Formal. John was accompanied by Georgeann Battiato. Completing the king's court were jim Benes and Sue Carleton, Bill Maynard and Liz Stein, ,lim Rondini and Marianne Weber, and ,lim Wagenlander and Judy Capes. 79 - it QM. Watch the Birdie. SWEETHEART SWING made a romantic background for Valentine's Day this year. The boys put together their brains and brawn to come up with a delicate and enchanting hearts and cupids atmosphere. Platters of cold cuts and cheeses were set out for make-your own Dagwoods, while Kick-a-poo Joy Juice was served on the side. All those who attended agreed it was a riotous affair. if M3 , 1 as Q N 'I-ji iliil 2 A 5 - Sue and Dave had Hnally come, as girls in long evening gowns accom- panied by their smartly-suited escorts emerged from their cars into the Shaker House to celebrate Prom weekend mln the Still of the Night . Both students and faculty combined their skills this year to present a mock basketball game for the Chagrin pep rally. Coach Carroll, Rose Water Barth, et. al. spiced the rally. In the Donkey Basketball Game, contrary to popular opinion, the donkeys came out on top. In the spring students turned the tables by displaying their own talent in the Hootenanny and Talent Show. VARSITY FOOTBALL found new highs- and lows- this year. The small, inexperi- enced team, led by tri-captains Rick Morvilius, Dave Cameron, and Ken Wright, opened the season with three straight shut-outs and was ranked among the top twenty teams in Greater Cleveland. The streak was broken by a close twenty to fourteen loss to undefeated Solon in a hardfought game, called by one area football reporter one of the best high school games held ever seen. The loss to Solon was followed by a heartbreaking defeat at the hands of rival Chagrin. Representative of the paradoxes this year was Orange's tremendous defensive effort against West Geauga. The Pride held the league's leading rusher to under one hundred yards for the First time all season, only to lose six to nothing on a desperation pass. 92 -Mt.--.ri-.5 -1 ...,,.......-.-..-..-....n--f -nn.-.-an--anus --..-u-an-u-a -17 ' , ROW 7: F. Although they started shakily, the Frosh fought back and finished strong, showing much promise for the future. W was confronted with their toughest schedule in many years-the Orange Hve had six games with teams in the area's top twenty. This dimculty was compounded by inexperience-none of last year's regulars were returning to the team. Six nerve racking games were lost by a total of eighteen points. Two of these were last-minute losses to West Geauga, who were sectional tournament champions. One was dropped in the closing seconds to the River Rats of Chagrin. The team began to work together with big wins over Kenston and Chagrin. However, in following losses to Solon and Maple Heights, who was ranked fourth in Greater Cleveland, the Pride lost its momentum. The team was led this year by captain Bill Maynard and junior Bob Young, who was named a Press Star and was the most outstanding player on the team. 97 0 3:3 PM I ,H -up 7 gs: XX Kgas N 1 o 1 xv. -'WF' sr .mg X w . The cold-air furnace that shakes the world's park Unleashes its ballast on your friend Nooh Zark. And you are still standing up, But everyone else is still standing down by the Blind pencil vendor. 151 'gOde to Time, Space, Food, Matter, and Mother Imagew Beneath a still cement mixer I sing carols of Christmastide. Government is but a table- Top of which sits the spilled Oatmeal of Time. I see, Leave, return, and go. Yet The tide of Time replaces Everything, while a cattle car Rumbles through the pomegranet Which is Space. The third Volume of Boyle's Atomic Number Of cherry tomatoes rests on The window-sill. But the Brussel-sprout of matter grows Even higherf, said Mom. Ode to Morality O! If Nathanial Hawthorne ever knew Of the immoral things this world do! Then, girls would do no wrong And the bad guys wouldn't last long. Then, Hestor Prynne got her scarlet A, Now, she'd be lucky to get a C +! CAuthor's note: And that's grading on the curvej Ode to Odorw Of after-shaves, which is the best? English Leather, jade East or West? Then there is Old Spice, and others I've met, And whatis the matter with plain Old Sweat? BARKER'S CAMERA SHOP INC. I4 N.
