Turk, Coach Lozenoff, Show Them That Orange ls Here ONGRATULATIONS are in order for the Orange Lions who brought home our fifth football championship in the past six years. The Lions started the season on the right foot as they defeated Olmstead Falls 6 to 0 in the annual Round Robin. But the team's hopes for an undefeated season faded as they lost to Maple Heights 6-0 in an independent tilt. In another in- dependent game the following week, the Orangemen were again victims of defeat as they bowed to Brush 14-7. The boys, however, bounced right back as the team made their league debut by winning a thriller from Cuyahoga Heights 13- 12. On October 9, they tripped Solon 25-6. Travel- ing to Independence the following Friday, the fellas racked up 40 points against 6 points for an inexperienced Independence squad. Orange gained its first shutout of the season trouncing Brecksville 30-0. Ex- citement reached its peak on the night of October 30, as the Lions dumped a strongly favored Chagrin team by a score of 13-0. Scenting an untied championship, the Lions went on to finish the season by defeating May- field 19-13 in what was said to be our tough- est game of the year. There were 39 stars on the team this year, each one playing his best game--ev- ery game- -whether it was played from the bench or on the playing field. Good sports- manship, teamwork and the will to win made our Lions champs. North, M. ,L Piastrelli, DCT We're Here To Win Again f ITH his eyes tumed toward the future, A Coach Bob Greenwood set up this year's var' sity teamg consisting of four seniors and four jun- iors. As the book goes to press, the Lions are one of seven teams in Ohio to remain undefeated. After three league victories, the Lions won the Northeastern Ohio Invitational Tournament, played at Windham High School, by defeating Uniontown and Ravenna. The Citrus Five took the next eight games in succession, assuring fans of the first undisputed East County champi- onship in the school's history. Senior forwards, Mark Titus and Dick Goga, along with junior center Rog Zenisek, ranked high in the scoring columns. Team spirit was kept at a high pitch by guards jim Gruden and joe Ungvary. The boys were said to be two of the best ball-handlers in the county. Rebound- ing abilities of 6'4 center, Wayne Mitchell, were definitely an asset to the team. Guards Bill Kennett and Bob Mason were ala so instrumental in many of the Lion victories. Record breaking scores and individual stars were of secondary importance to the boysg they practiced as a team, played as a team and won as a team. VARSITY: FIRST ROW: R. Kelley, R. Goga, M. J JUNIOR high and a senior high council comprise our student governing body. Both coun- cils endeavor to solve student prob- lems and during the year sponsor numerous activities which promote a feeling of loyalty, democratic principles and school Spirit in the student body. On Election Day everyone has an opportunity to cast his ballot for his favorite candidate. Early in the year the president appointed Bob Gioia captain of the Hall Guides. This service club is an asset to Orange High. Aiding teachers, guiding visitors and checking hall passes are only a few of the chores of a hall guide. As money derived from tax stamps is the council's main source of revenue, the committee rnust work hard to make this yearly drive a success. The council this year sponsored two new organizations, a Photography Club and a Thespian society. 'fx JUNIOR COUNCIL: STANDING: M. Farrar, I. Brovm, C. Cummins, C. Zarzour. SEATED: E. Kline, M. This play, di- rected by Mr. Bruce Wilson, proved to be one of the best received comedies ever given at Orange. The amusing story tells of Judson Barry, Mark Titus, a widely-traveled artist who settles down in his home town with his sister, Mrs. Taylor, played by Martha Hart. The trouble begins when Mrs. Taylor de- cides to pass out some counterfeit bills which Jud has been making merely as a hob- by. Two notorious counterfeiters, Fifty Fer- ris and Sawbuck Sam, portrayed by Darlene Villari and Don Vaughn, try to persuade Jud to throw in with them. Alan Howes, as T-man Tom Crosby, clears up the mystery of the cotmterfeit bills, finding Carolyn Thomas as judson's niece, an interesting diversion. Also adding to the hilarity were Paula Schultz, Don Falkner, Art Svoboda, Mike Jacobs, Earl Conrad, jo Lorenz and joan Sutcliffe. FIFTY DOLLAR BILLS!
