I-Iall, Whose philosophy is Music for every- one, encourages boys and girls from Grades V through VIII to participate in the Iunior Band. The present Orange High School Band com- prises seventy-two members and a twirling corps of fifteen, which includes a drum major, six majorettes, two feature twirlers and six front line twirlers. The Glee Club has a membership of one hundred boys and girls, who take part in the Christmas concert, the minstrel show, Cabaret Night and the spring concert each year. The Dance orchestra appeals to those who like current popular music. This unit of twentyitwo players performs at many school activities. Through the many activities of the four branches ol the Music department, the young musicians learn appreciation of the art itself, consideration for others, pride in their school and in themselves. After hearing of the need of repairs at the town hall, the fresh- man civics classes, under the direction of Mr. Leslie Anderson, went to work. We can feel that we helped our town in a small way. Five of our classmates, Gail Anderson, William Fisk, Carol Harris, Anne Parrnenter, and Deanna Ward were elected to serve on the Student Council. In all sports, our class was well represented. The junior varsity teams were comprised chiefly of sophomores. In the annual minstrel show, two of our classmates, Glendon Gale and Ernest Lambert, were endmen. On May 2, we held our first prom. In Iune, Larry Day was chosen as our marshal for Baccalaureate. Last fall, we returned to O.H.S. to be upper classmen - juniors. One of our first accomplishments was the election of our class officers. We chose: President, Larry Day, vice-president, Eredericka Harris, treasurer, David Mullen, secretary, Pamela Phillips, For Student Council we elected Marilyn Duval, Pamela Phillips, Fred- ericka Harris, David Mullen, john McCoy, and Beverly Brown. We were the only class to receive a Sadie Hawkins Day initiation. Ably representing us in the One-Act Plays were Frances May, Robert Treme- thick, Eileen Perkins, Phyllis Hall, David Grigalunas, William Brailey, and Beverly Thayer. Miss Morse directed the production. David Grigalunas and Phyllis Hall took part in the minstrel show. We had nineteen members in the band, and thirty-two athletes received nu- merals. Our class officers were: President, Herbert Eames, vice-president, Frances May, treasurer, Alfred Vorce, secretary, Beverly Belloli. The members of the Student Council from our class were Shirley Iewett, Ann Martinelli, and Carolyn Bassow. In our sophomore year, we elected as officers: President, Robert Whitaker, vice- president, Dorothy Creegan, treasurer, Kenneth Reed, secretary, Phyllis Hall. Miss LeVangie directed us in our production of One Happy Family. Student Council members were Beverly Belloli, Frances May, Shirley Iewett, Ann Martinelli, and David Grigalunas. The Sophomore Prom was held on April 27. ln our junior year our officers were: President, Richard Small, vice-president, Ann Martinelli, treasurer, Philip Nelson, secretary, Shirley Iewett. Our Student Council representatives were Annie Dubovik, Shirley Iewett, Doro- thy Creegan, Ann Martinelli, Kenneth Reed, and Alfred Vorce. Miss LeVangie again directed our contribution to the One-Act Plays, Sis of the Ozarks. ln September of l952, we at last entered Orange High School as seniors. As class officers we elected: President, Gerard Letourneau, vice-president, lean Libby, treasurer, William Laffond, secretary, Ianet Haskins. Our representatives on the Student Council for the year were Robert Tremethick, David Stone, Shirley Iewett, Dorothy Creegan, Alfred Vorce, Kenneth Reed, and lean Libby. Our senior play, Old Doc, the story of a country doctor, was directed by Mrs. Ryan. The members of the cast were Gerard Letourneau, Kenneth Reed, Phyllis Hall, Marilyn Day, Frederick Holbrook, William Brailey, Arlene Skerry, Franklin Parmenter, Eileen Perkins, Beverly Thayer, Ann Levell, Robert Tremethick, Gayle lanes, Constance Squires, and Carolyn Bassow. Many members of our class took part in both the Christmas play and the Glee Club in the Christmas Assembly. To raise money for the class trip, We compiled a cookbook, Kitchen Wisdom, sold magazine subscriptions, Christmas cards ,and held paper drives. Our big event of the year, the class trip, began on April ll. On the following Saturday, a tired but happy group of seniors arrived home again in good old Orange. Our last social event, the Senior Prom, followed the trip almost too quickly. When it was over, we realized that graduation was near at hand. Baccalaureate carne on Iune 14, and graduation followed on Iune 18. The in- evitable day has arrived when we are no longer members of Orange High School. We can only reminisce and look fondly back at those four wonderful years, and cherish the associations that We have formed during our school days. Qi-yy . . 2,3 Senior Class Hlstory it l W? tg?
