H. S. We shall always look back on these days with fond memories With visions of college, business school, interesting jobs, and occupations, we look forward to the years that lie before us. 19 Class of 57 --,Lu-Wm Top Row R,B1ok R,Hoft1ezer F Wykhuxs J Schukow M Ten Pas K Kranendonk M Roerdmk L De Blaey T Ongna Row Two M Rauwerdmk F Eerrusse L De Zwarte S Hulbregtse R,Du1mes I Meerdlnk R De Pagter D Le Mahleu J TenHaken Row One D VerVe1de L Bnll L Nyenhuls R,Br11l M Heldeman C Slmmehnk I Mulder K Damkot L Hexnen Camera Shy N Bloemers C Heldeman B Meggers G Otte Top Row: R, Ten Haken, S, Van Ess, G, Bruggink, L, Opgenorth, A, Schuessler, L, Wynveen, M, Jensema, I, Shaver, J, Lubbers, R, Flipse, Row Two: A, Price, J. Lensink Kettle Moraine Champions Our 1955-56 basketball club rang up a record of 19 wins and just 3 losses as it became the highest scoring team in the school's history. The well-balanced quintet of coach Grunska averaged 73 points a game while holding opponents to a 44 point average in sweeping to an undefeated Kettle Moraine Conference cham- pionship. It became the first Oostburg team ever to go undefeated in confer- ence play. The three losses, all non-conference, were very close and exciting encounters and were lost by a total of only eight points. Kohler, eventual dis- trict champs, defeated OHS twice, once in the regular schedule, and in the sec- ond tournament game to close our season. Carl Bruggink, a guard, captained this spirited array of talent. Don Kranen- donk, 6'3 center, was the top defensive player, ace rebounder, and led the fast break as he average 15 points a game. Guard Carl Lernkuil took the free throw title by sinking 7570 of his charity shots. Marv Potter scored 12 points a game as a forward, and Ted Triphan was the best passing guard. Forward Bob Hil- belink was the team's high scorer with 378 points and a 19 point average. His 56070 shooting percentage was also high for the team. Oostburg, had the strong- est Bench in the conference, capable of defeating many teams, and 'of these Vilas Hesselink and Bill Vanderbilt were front-line reserves. The .864 winning percentage is the highest ever recordedby an Oostburg fiveg the closest being the 17-3 season chalked up by the 1946-47 edition. Kranen- donk and Hilbelink made the first All-Conference team, Potter was elected to the second team, Bruggink and Triphan gained honorable mention. 11' 4 4 4 'A' The Junior Varsity, coached by Mr. Peregrine, ended seasons play with a re cord of ZZ wins and 2 losses. This year O.l-l.S. organized a volleyball team for the first time. The team will play inter-scholastic matches with sev- eral nearby high schools. Also on the volleyball schedule is the district tournament to be held at Lomira. The winner is eligible for further tourney competition with the state finals to be held in Madison. There was an excellent turnout of 55 boys and girls for practices. We all hope the volley ball team will grow to a major sport here at O.H.S.
