In the process they finished the year with straight Superior Ratings. Thanks, girls, for all your hard work and your contributions to our Band! Charisma Jackson and Gary Bynum continued the tradi- tion of great Drum Majors at Ooltewah. They provided the Band with outstanding leadership and poise. As Drum Ma- jors, Charisma and Gary had a super year receiving two Superior Ratings. This was Charisma's second year as Drum Major and it proved to be just as rewarding as the first. Her experience proved very valuable throughout the year. This was Gary's first year as Drum Major but what a year it was! Thanks, Charisma and Gary, for all the hard work and leadership you gave us! ?S'f?',Q5r.- -litre., 'VZYQFWQM-1. sr'- fl nu. . Q ,-.- -r' 'gf' an leaf?-. The last competi- tion these young ladies were involved in was the ICF Competition. There, they were chosen as District Champions, and qualified for the ICF Nationals in Nashville. The thing that these young ladies should be most recognized for is the NCA Na- tionals that they attended in Orlando, Fla. over Christmas break. There, the girls com- peted against over 400 squads from around the U.S. The squad was among the top 30 in the nation in the large varsity division. We commend and are very proud of each and every one of these young ladies for their accomplishments at competitions, as well as football and basketball games, and wrestling matches. Thanks for all of your support and spirit! A special thanks goes to Mrs. Valerie Rutledge and Miss Debbie Troutman for all of their efforts and patience. Coach Ftobbs, Coach Lovell, Manager Bill Hogan X For our first year in AAA softball, we feel like we had a very successful year. We finished the year with an 18-9 record and made it to the semi- finals of the state tournament. We had only 3 seniors this year and will return 7 starters including 6 sophomores and 1 junior. Our big- gest thrill this year was in beating Hixson and Red Bank for the Regional Championship. We were disappointed in not making it to the state finals but are looking forward to next year. James County Jamboree, Fun-Run, parades, receptions, alumni ballgames, and Pioneer Day were some of the activities held to bring back area residents to historical James County, which was created in January 1871 but due to bankruptcy was absorbed by Hamilton and Bradley Coun- ties in April 1919. The highlight of the week was the mov- ing of the Ooltewah depot to its new home on the Ooltewah High School campus where the depot will undergo renovation into the James County Museum. 51 - f-'.- -':.,.1v -.
