Happiness Is A Rewarding And Challenging Day Many Activities Make Up School Life The Good Times Of The Beginning -------------- The Hum-Drum Reality Of Today— A Dream For Tomorrow 16 Students Are the Life of Oologah Schools Dedication Mrs. Dal Walker 20 In honor of the late Mr. Dal Walker, Mrs. Walker presents Mr. Dowell, Superintendent of Oologah Schools the complete series of yearbooks published by the school. They will be placed in a display case in the foyer. Our sincere thanks for the great interest Mrs. Walker has taken in the young people of this community throughout the years. E3Z Foundation Board of Education As enrollment soars and space for Oologah students becomes an increasing problem, the Board of Education is constantly called upon to meet the demands of a dynamic student body. This year, added to the Oologah campus is the East campus which houses the Administration, Industrial Arts Department and the Elementary P.E. Facilities. Underway is also the 1500 seat new auditorium built on the south end of the High School Building with the ability to sub-divide the auditorium into three distinct lecture areas. Expanding the physical part of Oologah Schools is not the only task that the Board of Education faces. This group of men are constantly at work planning enough space, a newer and more well-equipped plant, and improved methods by which to educate the growing throng of students with the best staff and faculty available. Left to right: Harold Christy Walter Dierolf Jim Todd Gale Welch Bill Burks Administration and Faculty School Life High School Classes and Departments Organizations and Personalities 23 Superintendent Knowledge in action ... is power. Power to create ideas and concepts, make things and change events. The greater the meaning and purpose knowledge has in one's vital relationships to one's world, and as one's frame of reference expands, the further along the learning curve one moves. One's progress along the learning curve proceeds in inverse proportion to one's perception and understanding of what and how specific knowledge affects one's life. Needless to say, it is the obligation of this institution, parents and yes even the total community to make sure that the learning curve is not broken in a student's life while here at Oologah. A bit of relaxation from the busy day proved beneficial to the staff as Mr. Mrs. Jean Bolch School Treasurer and Secretary to Dowell was caught unaware of the photographer. Superintendent. 24 High School Principal Successful people have learned a great principle that many people do not understand. “Service comes before reward. Those who serve and serve well are usually rewarded in due course. Those who are motivated to serve only by the prospect of reward are more likely to be disappointed. There is no royal road to success. Success awaits the person who is willing to work hard for it. Middle School Principal Students: I hope that this has been another good year for each of you. All decisions and changes that have been made this year have been for your educational benefit. Our sole purpose is to provide you, the students, with an opportunity to develop the skills necessary for becoming a productive member of society. I hope that each of you will take advantage of that opportunity. You have made this a good year for the faculty and (L. to R.) Mrs. |o Gray, Lunch Program Secretary; Mrs. Shirley Butler, Elementary and Middle School Secretary The philosophy of the Oologah Elementary School was developed to meet the needs of the pupils it serves. This philosophy is basic to the development of meaningful educational programs and to the creation of an environ- ment conducive to learning. A Tribute Mrs. Priscilla Worden In every student's lifetime, there is always someone who becomes extremely influential, not only in the development of his education, but also in the development of his life. This edition of the MUSTANG marks the end of the career of just such a person - Mrs. Priscilla Worden. Thirty-six years of teaching makes a lifetime of devotion and concern for the hundreds of students that have been in her classes, and creates a community which is rich with her contribution of leadership and service. Teaching business, sponsoring the yearbook, super- vising the newspaper, coaching plays, and working as a school administrator have all been areas in Mrs. Worden's career as an educator. Her goal as an educator was not to teach a subject, but to teach a person. Many areas make up a person's life, and developing a person who will fit into his place in society was her primary aim. At the close of this 19th edition of the MUSTANG, we would like to pause and take the time to say Thank you. Thanks for caring, thanks for giving your time to help educate others, and, most of all, thanks for being the kind of person you worked to help others become.
