If a trophy goes to the team who has the most luck this basketball season, the Mustang team is certain to be one of the leading con- tenders. How else can you explain a 3-13 record for the team's first 16 basketball games this year? Black cats must cross the players' paths each time they goto a ballgame. When the team goes into a restaurant following a game all the salt shakers surely fall over and spill salt on the tables. The Mustangs have lost 12 games by a grand total of 38 points, about three points per loss. Only once have they been com- pletely out of the running. Oologah could have easily ran up a 10-6 record by now and even possibly a 15-1 mark. Four Mustang losses have been by one point. Three other games were lost by two, three and four points respectively, with the two pointer going into overtime. The five additional defeats went down the drain by five points in each contest. One of these even went into two overtimes before somebody broke a mirror and the team lost. Despite the team's misfortunes, a person hears no crying or bickering from the Oologah players or their coach Curtis Pittman. They are still trying just as hard as they were at the start of the season. Your Idols Desire There are little eyes upon you, And they're watching night and day; There are little ears that quickly Take in every word you say; There are little hands all eager To do anything you do; And a little girl who's dreaming Of one day she'll be like you. You're the little girl's idol; Your're the wisest of the wise, In her little mind about you, No suspicions ever rise; She believes in you devoutly, Holds that all you say and do She will say and do, in your way When she's grown-up like you. There's a wide-eyed little girl, Who believes you’re always right, And her ears are always open, And she watches day and night; You are setting an example Every day in all you do For the little girl who's waiting To grow up to be like you. Administration Board Of Education The philosophy of this untiring group of men is: Study, work, and enjoy all that Oologah has to offer each of you, the students, in this district. They believe that Knowledge is the cup of gold, the Trophy of study and reason. Meanvhile, the search for knowledge is interrupted by the search for social contact. When classes are over, there is time for relaxation and fun. The game is on. Competition spices and reflect the character of each student in our school that takes pride in the development both mentally and physically. Our most humble thanks to this group who give their all unselfishly to make these things possible. Left to right Harold Christy, President Aubrey Faught, Vice-President Harold Pearson, Member Darrel Pearson, Member Walter Dierolf, Clerk 54 Administration Strives To Accommodate Needs This has been a unique school year in many ways for the students, faculty and community. In October of 1971 high school students said good-bye to their elementary and junior high classmates. Moving into the new high school meant a new way of life for students and faculty. Ours is a present day school of the future. In the three years that I have been at Oologah I have seen growth in facilities, faculty, community and, most important of all, in students. We are embarking upon a great revolution in education. In the upcoming years this educational revolution will bring with it an individualized teaching techniques. As educators, parents and students, it is our responsibility to strive together to make Oologah a leader in this revolution. Education Moves Forward I' or all students the publication of this yearbook marks another year in your education. For some students it is the first year, for others it is the twelfth year, but I hope, for none, may it be the last year. For all students I hope that it has been a good year. To the Seniors—my most sincere wishes for your success and happiness. As you progress towards your life's goals and you pause to remember friendships and your years at Oologah High School, may your memories be happy ones. To the yearbook staff and their sponsor— Congratulations and Thanks for your efforts and hard work. High School Principal And Every school district and every school in American operates within a framework of purposes, procedures, and rules. When all of these are clearly written and well organized into published, loose-leaf collections of policies, regulations, and by-laws which are constantly being updated, we have an image of and orderly school district. When policies are pos- itively stated in terms of desirable purposes, we see a dynamic school district. When the regulations are humane and democratic we see a district where law is the servant rather than the master of the staff. We at Oologah have strived to put these into practice to produce one of the finest schools for our children. Grade and Jr. High Principal ,lrs. Shirley BuUer and Mrs. Connie Hudson r.
