Text from Pages 1 - 140 of the 1962 volume:

962 The cherished memories worked so hard to compile. of the year are relived again as you look through this book that the staff has THE STAFF Left to right: Angela Fry, Pauline Whorton, Janice George, Carolyn Blakley, Clara Smith, Lynda Intemann, Sharon Morgan, Mary Humes, Priscilla Worden, Carolyn Pool, Linda Dikeman, Evelyn Bra zeal. The Staff of 1962 proudly dedicates this Mustang to Mr. and Mrs. Theo Vancuren. It is our way of expressing our gratitude and our sin- cere appreciation for all that you both have done as a teacher and friend. Members of the Senior Class, you will soon be leaving our school. You will be carrying many bruises you have received in your bout with education. You get just as many hard knocks in the school of edu- cation as you get in the school of life. For Education IS life, not just a preparation for it! I hope that we as teachers have been able to start something burning inside you--something that just might catch fire and ignite and maybe turn you into a great scholar, a great musician, a great statesman--or better still, a great GUY! In this school of education, you should not worry too much about grades. Life isn't always going to give you A's. You're going to blunder and make plenty of D’s and F s in life just by leading a brave and generous life. Your formal education should teach you to be leaders instead of followers. You should learn that you do not have to accept everything that people say without question. Your education should serve as a spring-board, an impetus to make you want to read, and study and improve your God-given minds. Remember, what we don't USE, we LOSE! Devote your lives to worthwhile actions and feelings, to great thoughts, real affections, and enduring undertakings. Happiness isn't a gift. We earn it--by gratitude, by investing in others. Mr. B.
