Our officers for this busy year were: La Verne Cobb, Presidentg Russell Taylor, Viee-l'residentg Bus Hut- ton, Sevretary and -laeli Armstrong, Treasurer. Now we eonie to the best all around year of our class history. NVe are very proud to elaiin the title and honor bestowed upon us for being Seniors ol' this great year. The Owenshurg High School Students were transferred to Uolitie. so we aezluired nine new ll1l?1l1lJGl'S from Owensburg, and one from Linton High School. These students were: Margaret Shelton. lieith Roberts, Vllfllllllly Steele, Edna Pearl Padgett, Vlara Dresden, Violet Brinegar, Marian Roberts. Darrell 3TC4xll1HllCY. and Roh llaker. Stanley Vollins entered from Linton. -lanet George and Russell Taylor did not re-enter for their final year. YVe ehose Mrs. Thelma Wagoner, Mr. Kenneth lllaek and Mrs. Dorothy Duncan as sponsors to lead us thrcnigh this grand year. The biggest project of this year was the preparing and publishing of our year hook, THE LIMES'l'ONlC. VVQ also niade the purchasing of a new movie projector possible. Our elass officers are: Henry Granato, lfresidentg -lack Armstrong, Vice-Presidentg Bus llutton, Seeretary and Lester Hall, Treasurer. Our Class Motto- The Higher XVe Rise. the Better the Yiewg Vlass Flower -- American Beauty Roseg Vlass Uolors - Blue and Silver. The past tour years of our sehool life have wrought niiraeulous change. SENIOR CLASS HISTORY Four years ago. we. the Seniors of '49, were just a timid. uncertain bunch of self-conscious Hkidsl' as we enter- ed Oolitic High School on August 31, 1945. The principal, VV. G. Scales, welcomed us into the liigh school to start on our long' journey of success. We joined with the other students in the school and became full-pledged mem- ers of Ollt' large happy group. During the first llltllflfll of school we pondered over who should be the class offi- cers of this important class. Finally the decision was made, and the following students became officers: Bob Deckard. l,l'OSltl911fQ Jack Armstrong, Vice-President: and l1aVerne Cobb, Secretary-'l'reasurer. The sponsors were Mrs. Eva Howard and Mr. Arthur Vrider. Eleven members dropped out of our class to become members of the great working class of our country. VVe had the usual amount of parties Hllil fun during this record year. After we had finished our ha1'dest year of school, we became Sophomores with fifty-two SfllllQlliS reporting' for class. Mr. Kenneth Black was welcomed i11to our school as the new principal VVe had Mrs. Marie Chambers and Mr. Bill Luce as class sponsors. Our class officers were: VVard Bradford. l'resident: Bus Hutton. Vice- President: and -lack Armstrong, Secretary-Treasurer. Eleven seemed to he our unlucky number for we lost eleven 111ore members of our class during' this year. Now we come to the most enjoyable year of our school life, Our -lunior Year. NVe numbered forty-two mem- bers O11 this IIIOST memoriable year. -lnne Staf 0's, -lean Graves. and lVard lirafford dro 1 1ed out of our beloved 1 FZ' class later in the year. Mrs. Dorothy Duncan and Mrs. Gladys Patton were chosen as our class sponsors. During: the first semester, class rings were chosen and a lH?t0'FlZll1l' cam maiffn launched. Four of our class received certifi- P I P' I cates 1'eeog'nizi11g their unusual salesmanship. A successful Hlfun Festl' was sponsored bythe class as part of the Halloween Activities. XVe llflll charge of concessions at all ball games. A very nice class party was enjoyed by 14

CLASS WILL NVe, the Senior Class of the High School of Oolitic, of the County of Lawrence, and the State of Indiana, be- ing indisputably of sound and disposing mind and memory, as we are about to pass out of existence. do make, pub- lish and declare this to be our last will and testament. hereby revoking any and all former wills by us at any time heretofore made. VVe bequeath to our faculty who have given their endless efforts in guiding and leading us through these happy, but difficult years, our sincere wishes for a sweet and restful future, because they have done their duty well and have earned this reward. We also give to the faculty our good looks, brains, and ambitions in the hope that they will have a clear picture of this Senior Class of 1949 in their memory. forever. To them, also, we leave our amusing escapades and trials that have faced us in these last four years. In closing, we wish to thank them for their guidance as instructors and their kindness as friends. To the Juniors we leave our dignified name in the hope that they will assume and fulfill the great responsibili- ties of being Seniors. In addition, we also will them our ambitions that have not been fulfilled and also our seats in the Senior Class Row. 'llo the Sophomores we bequeath our wishes that their future years in Oolitic will be filled with joy and happi- 11ess, and that they will soon realize the honor of being a part of this school. For the Freshmen we leave our ability to pull scientifieal suction with all the teachers of O,H.S. and our fine performance in all the activities. VVe hope that the example that we have set forth before them will be imprinted indelibly on their minds. INDIVIDUAL WILLS Jack Armstrong wills his position as center on the basketball team to 'tlliig Boy Jones and his ability to attract all the women to Darrell Burnette. Robert Senator Baker wills his love for physics class to anyone who is stupid enough to take it. and his cheery manner and loud voice to Gayle Graves. Russell Hell, alias Dead-Eye Dick. wills his hunting ability to Don Taylor, who needs it, and his habit of going to sleep in class or study hall to Junior Sowders. June Benham wills her personality to Carol Feltner and her engagement ring to anyone lucky enough to get a guy like Walter. Alice Bennett wills her ableness to be tardy, morning and noon for four straight years and still get by with it, to Jim Baker and her ability to make a piano talk to Delores Cobb. Violet Ilrinegar wills her temper and ability to blush to Peggy Elliott. Charles Chambers wills Galloping Gertie, his car, to anyone who knows the combination. Stanley Collins, being of sound body and unsound mind wills his carpentering ability to Mr. George and Violet Rose to Charles Conner. LaVerne Cobb wills her ability to get her way with all the teachers to Eddie Sproles and her popularity with the girls of O. H. S. to Jo Ann. John Conner wills his magnificent physique to Dean New and his popularity with the faculty to George John- son. Marv Cox wills her tv ing abilitv to Gwen lVa0'ner and her cheerv manner to Barbara Scott. 1 1 C' 1 D 1 liarbara Davis gives her sailor boy friend to any freshman girl and her place as twirler in the band to Jeanette Fowler. Sue Day wills her position as yell-leader to anyone lucky enough to get it and her friendliness with Mr. Allen to Semi Silvers.
