Dear Students: I was graduated from high school in June, 1929, A.D. My class published a Yearbook and, as I dimly recall, it was a good one. Sometime, however, dur- ing the past thirty years, I lost it . . . and I've been sorry about it for many reasons. Most important, I could use it to prove I did graduate and to show it to Onteora students to verify that I was a high school boy at one time!!! In thirty years a fellow can forget a lot. It would be fun if I could open the book and look back to see again everyone who was in my class, to see other friends who were in school when I was a Senior. It would be amusing to see how looked at the time. Of course, I can remember the unimportant items, such as who were the outstanding students, the top teachers, the best athletes, the cleverest thespians, the officers of the class and the opes most likely to succeed. But I can't remember some of the very important items, such as who was the best looking in the class, who fixed the short sheet in my hotel bed on the Washington trip, who al- most blew up the Chem. Lab., who told Miss Crimmins to jump jn the lake, who spent most of his time in the Principal's office, who left the outdoor privy on the front lawn on Halloween night, who flubbed his line in the Senior play, who got caught smoking in the boiler room, who was caught smooching in the Study Hall during a basketball game and who was the class lunatic. Take my word for it—carefully file this book in a safe place for future reference. If you don’t, in 1989, you too, will suffer from loss of memory and a deficiency of personal, historical knowledge that only the pages of an old Yearbook can bring back to you. Looking through an old Yearbook can bring back laughter, tears, giggles, and smug thoughts . . . and only because you relive your personal triumphs and defeats, successes and failures. But what brings the most pleasure are the unwritten thoughts you read between the lines and see between the photographs. 4
