He pounces upon everyone who enters the hallowed halls of O.H.S. and fills them with typical tiger spirit. As editor of the '63 Owaches, I would like to introduce Owch, the Owaches tiger. Owch is a fine fellow. He's a four-sport mari, and a member of every club in school. lEven FHA---he's an honorary member.i This year Owch is reading Salinger, Woulz, and Christie. He's still twisting, but he's varying it with the Popeye and the Continental. tHe says the twist is a good dance for people who can't wallz a straight line anyway.J Owch has the distinction of having shorter chapter outlines for American Problems class than anyone else. He is down on Physics class, though, because he burned his tail on his Bunsen burner. Owch is prepared to tahe ti '7 you on a guided tour of our '63 Owaches. We were brought to the realization of this on September seventh when the Honorable Mark O. Hatfield, Governor of Oregon, at a general assembly at OHS, spoke on Conservation of Human Resources, and presented to Miss Charli Harland an award for her excellent work in the 1962 national Employ the Handicapped essay contest. It is an event such as this that makes these years the best years of our lives. DELORES OVERMAN Outstanomq A person of changing moods, Delores has a ready smile but also a hint of reserve. Highly intelligent and sure of her goal, she shows her de- pendability by successfully fulfilling any task set for her. As president of the FHA in her senior year, she earned the fitting honor of becoming Oregon's Betty Crocker Homemaker of Tomorrow. Active in a limited but impressive number of organizations, Delores is a definite asset to OHS. GARY ROLAND Active in all phases of school life, as well as in municipal programs, tall, good-looking Gary has a personality that wins him acceptance wherever he goes. As ASB president and a member of many school organizations, Gary is kept busy, but not so busy that he can't be a mem- ber of the National Honor Society. The kind of person that is good at almost everything he does, Gary is a wonderful representative of OHS. CHARLI HARLAND At the heart of Charli's successful high school career lies a unique capability for original thinking. Her classmates and teachers all appreci- ate her classroom contributions. The members of the Girls' League rec- ognized Charli's ability to generate new and different ideas by electing her president of their organization. Charli was the district chairman of the FHA, is a member of the Pep Club, and is an invaluable addition to the annual staff. SGHIORS ETHEL TSUKAMAKI Peppy in her own patrician sort of way, Ethel is a real leader. She has a Midas touch - everything she turns her hand to comes out just right. Ethel has served as an OHS cheerleader for the past three years, and is the ASB treasurer. She has also served as Tri-State Historian for Girls' League. Always ready to work for her school, Ethel is one of our most outstanding seniors. FRANCES ENOMOTO Frances' friendliness makes her well-known and well-liked by every- one at OHS. Her energy and willingness to shoulder responsibility are shown in her fine work as assistant editor of the annual and as president of the Pep Club. Her efforts brought the Pep Club to a new high of activity and participation. Despite these and many other activities, Frances manages to keep a very respectable grade point average. Com- petent and lively Frances is a welcome addition to any group. GENE NISHIMURA Although somewhat shy and reserved, Gene has always rated high in scholastic ability. With a grade point average of 1.05 he is the valedic- torian of the senior class. Having captured the respect and friendship of his fellow students, Gene was chosen as senior class treasurer. This has proved to be a wise choice, evidenced by the fact that he rated high- est in the school in the National Math test. We are all very proud of our Geneius. W my Kits Right m.. The Ontario Tiger Varsity Football Squad com- bined potential, determination, and the fine instruction of Coach Dar Mathewson and Coach Bob Feasel to pull in a 5-1-1 record in conference grid action to share honors with Vale for second place. The Tiger gridders proved their will to win as they held their traditional rival, the Vale Vikings, within Va1e's own 48-yard line and tied O-O as the time ran out. On- tario's coaching staff, powerful backs, and strong line- men are to be commended for a fine job. Carver, C. Miles, B. Reed, Mgr. P. The Tiger baseball team of last year presented Ontario with the conference champ prize for the second year in a row. Also, up to now, when this annual was being written, Ontario has had a 19 con- ference game winning streak. The new Tiger baseball team, which is a relatively young team, shows promise of coming through the conference play with added high ratings. The team has a great amount of capability, especially on the mound. Ontario's pitchers, who are all juniors, have dem- onstrated their ability as they already have racked up an early 2-0 nonconference record. Ontario can expect a good season this year because of their depth and desire to win. The Tigers can rely upon a veteran team to put on a fine performance for the 1963-64 school year. The Cubs lost 12 juniors to the varsity and four sophomores were graduated to the Tiger team. The young, new club has a reputation to maintain as the 1962 club left them with a 9-2 record. As early indications show, they have the power to match it or even better it. X IJ ,J , , f 5 + 1 .f mf Q3 us 'K' Ai 5 V Mi' K' 41 M , Q wx? ' fm 1 w , f. wma 'CIGGR tnackstens t .... - ... YL.
