LORENCE SAVAGH MIYAKO YNOU YE eniorfi We, the graduating class of 1951, close the high school doors for the last time, leaving behind a record of which we are highly proud. Class elections brought victory to Frank Good, Presidentg Lorence Savage, Vice-Presidentg Anne Morishita, Secretary: and Miyako Inouye, Treasurer. From the members of our class were chosen the president of the S.R.V. Girls' League, and the Girls' State Governor. We also placed four boys on the All-Conference Football Team. H, A, , or F, F. A. We organized and elected class officers. The class president was Sally Laneg vice-president, Gary Cappsg and secretary-treasurer, Velma Montgomery. We also elected Student Body officers. They were president, Tommy Conkling vice-president, Wayne Andersong secretary-treasurer, Yasuko Gotanda. Our much-looked-forward-to freshman party was held December l6, in the little gym, which was a big success. We are all hoping that next year you will see us in the new highschool. ni, V, gan. , -...wth ,......-... . ,I A A .V. tt u, .a,..,,u.,.a , . , ima f f 'Lffgnli or 1 FRONT ROW, LEFT TO RIGHT: Burke Nicholson, Gary Capps, Millard Stowell, Samuel Mori, Delton Warren, Dennis Hickox, Bob Rigsby, Bob Webb, Dick McConnaha, Kenny Ackerman, Earl Davis, Jim Williams, Jim Ennor. This group has sung for several occasions, the PEO Chapter, MethodistMen's Brotherhood, Spring Concert, and at La Grande. The rest of the choir did a good job of entertaining too. They sang for Kiwanis, Lions, the Farmers' Supply Co-op, P. T. A- , and the Soroptimist Club. The choir made their annual Christmas carolling tour throughout the city and at the hospital. In the spring the entire choir gave a concert at the Pix Theatre. It was a review of several musicals. This concert was agreat success. The choir also went to La Grande for the District Music Clinic. The plot concerned the efforts of Cornelia Otis Skinner QRuth Joseph, to become an actress. Although Cornelia's parents Uackie Hawk and Dan Leesj were oblivious to her intentions her friends fTish Belknap, Angela Laca, Elaine Duncan, and Veda Jackson, had great faith in her. Abby, the maid fPaula Smit, and the girls devoted swains fDean Anderson, Don Fenn, Eddie Gheen, and Eugene Conklinj were neatly bewildered by the dramatic activities. As in most plays, there was the happy ending. Mr. Trigero directed the play with his usual success. For the first time, the junior class gave a play entitled The Late Christopher Bean. It had two casts. The plot revolves around the Haggett's QDan Dearborn - Ann Richter, and Kenneth Ditty-Linden Croninj and their dauifliiters, Ada fRita Cornwell and ary Lou Wheelerj and Susan QBarbara Van- degrift and Donna Johnson, who had been left several portraits by a patient, Chris Bean, who was now dead. Several persons came to pay Chris' bill--first, there was Talent fCharlie Platt and Bob Barkergnext, came Rosen lDick Tacke an Tom Aguerj and finally Davenport Uack Robertsonj who came to write Bean's biography. Warren Creamer fBob Wilson and Melvin Packer, is Susan's boyfriend who is in and out of the Haggett's most of the time. Abby, the maid fElaine Conklin and Jeanne Rocky, lends the air of mystery that is needed in this type of play. It was a very successful play under the able direction of Mr. Trigero. uniorfi redenf le Jafe Cdririfolader Gall .9 X , FIRST ROW, LEFT TO RIGHT: Louise Baldwin, Leora Whitsell, Party Derrick, Lucille Kimmel, Loretta Spurlock, Day Christiansen, Betty Jo Maus, Lois Hainline, SECOND ROW: LEFT TO RIGHT: Nellie Fujii, Myrna Toedter, Marjorie Baldwin, Marianne Rikimaru, Zenita Archibald, Barbara Lawrence, Jackie Gardner, Grace Lawrence, Mr, Harris, director. One of the high-lights of the year was the Chinese dinner held atMr. Trigero's, their advisor, in January. After dinner, a new game was introduced to them and so they played Bunco for the rest of the evening. Elaine Duncan won first prize while Angela Lace won the booby prize. The second highlight was to study some one-act plays. N W-Wk . x 3 g V' -li-, k 6. The Demons. . When we were young and gay. . The Thinker fsj. 7 8 9. EEE Gadsn ll IO, Backfields in motion. II.
