IUINI AGRICULTURAL COLLEGE Lt ttii fr-svETERlNARY COLLEGE UFIQHF' o N EA R I On nd-,y llefq ,.,,D, r? i W. R. REEK, M.B.E., B.S.,-X. Acting President ll Appreciation 1945 was an eventful year for the Ontario Agricultural College as well as the rest of the world. It marked the beginning of the reorganization of our College to meet the great influx ol returning service men. Early in that college year Dr. Christie, who had carried the burden of presidency for seventeen years, was stricken ill and forced to retire temporarily from active college adminis- tration. Mr. Reek, then Deputy Minister of Agriculture, was summoned back to his Alma Mater as Acting President. His wealth of expirience and progressive mind were turned at once to the task of preparing the College to aciommodate the expanding student body. ,Xlways zt strong' advocate ol' student' self-gavernment, Mr. Reek innnediately won over the student body. They have found in him a sympathetic listener and a willingness to co-operate in solving their many and varied problems. Dr. Christ it-'s illness proved more serious than at first expected, and Mr. Reek has remained with us now lor two years. The many changes which have been successfully carried out as our Lollcge has expanded, and the respect in which Mr. Reek is held by both faculty and students is the best evidence of his ztccotnplishments as Acting President. lift X
