72 BOY SCOUTS The Onsted troop of Scouts has completed another year and at this time is going through the procedure of registering Some who were originally registered have withdrawn, others have come into the organization, and other are preparing their tests for registration so wecanlt tell the exact enrollment, at present. Besides the good times that the boys have had at their meetings they can list several civic and national services Beat they have performed during the year. Some of you readers al- ready know how diligently the boys dug into shingles that were laying around the I.0.0.F. hall and cleaned them up. Ask some of the boys about the trip to the football games at Ann Arbor and we are sure they'll tell you that they had a good time al- though they didn't have much ushering to do. Their project of aluminum collection was fairly successful and we hope that the material collected will be of some help, at least. The out- standing project has been the collection of paper. It requires lots of work but the cause is highly emphasized and it is our part, and yours, to cooperate in the Defense program. In a sum arized report of the Wolverine Council lLenawee and Monroe Countiesl recently received, we are delighted to find that our troop is in 5th place in tonnage collected. We have sold over 5 tons and we feel that you can be msproud as we are. We ex- pect to continue this project and solicit your support. .Among the other projects planned for the year are, cob lection of scrap metal Cproceeds to be donated to the Red Cross and U.S.O.J, First Aid training, training in signaling, summer camp for those who can go, ushering at Ann APUOI games, persmb al advancement and merit badge work. Our sponsorship has been changed from the P.T.A. to the Odd Fellows. Our local committee has been re-appointed and consists of John Iverson, chairman, Frank Johnson, L.R. Conner Richard Hill, and Max Johncox. Paul Harwood will again be Scoutmaster with Alvin Kimball Cwho was reappointed! Garrell Adler and Wayland Slayton as Assistant Scout masters. with this corp behind the boys we feel that we will be able to ac- complish more things in Cnsted than any troop in previous yeann We are proud of our boys and you should be too. They are willing to serve you and the community at large, will you help support them? BE PREPARED A GOOD SCOUT IS A GOOD CITIZEN.

Later in the fall we started basketball with the Varsity well composed of seniors. BASKETBALL We got off to a peer start atiiw beginning of the year because we had lost seven players who graduated last spring. We lost the first five games but we im- proved after that and won six of the remaining twelve games. We placed fifth in the Little Six Standingsd Sand Creek won the championship this yearand St. Mary's came in second. We drew Blissfleld forthe first game in the tour- nament. We knew we didn't have much chance of beating them because they had a very good team this year. We were defeated 42 to 22 by a very fast passing team. ' Now that the basketball season is over, we are lookingfbrward to a successful baseball season because we have some good ball players backfrom last year, We should have aggmd chance of winning the baseball cham- pionship again this year.
