M' 'so'- X X sriuiorg CLASS HISTORY We, the class of '42 arrived at the gates of Onsted High School feeling that the world 'and school were both at our feet. Much' to our surprise, we found that the world was not there to admire our brilliancy, and that the school still remained independently intact upon its mound. However, during that year, after a painful Freshmen initiation we were able to demonstratesomewhatourbril- liancy and cooperation in school activities. Moreover we had many enjoyable class parties under the supervis- ion of Mr. Huber, our class advisor. Then in our Sophomore year the school slowly began to realize that we were very much alive. We found our- selves being accepted for basketball, clubs, and various activities. One of the highlights of this Sophom re year was the vengence of last years sufferings. We were able to inflict the same painful experience on a new group of unfortunate green freshmen, as we had suffered theyear before. Mr. Hill led our class during this year. By autumn of 1940, we 56 Juniors, were able to as- sert ourselves as real upperclassmen by successfullypre- senting our play, nHere Comes Charlien, under the direc- tion of Miss Miller, our class sponsor. Some of our boys made the first team in basketball and baseball. In the spring we honored the Seniors atourannualJunior-'Senior banquet and with this our Junior year was drawn to a close. Finally we reached our Zenith of achievement -- the Senior year, where we made final preparation to go to make a world of our own. During that year we raised funds for our trip in the spring. Our efforts to do so centered first upon a play 'Mama's Baby Boyu, which was presented in the school and because of its success, it was again presented at tho Grange Hall in Tipton under the direction of Miss Filer. Thanks to the cooperation of many people in andnear Onstod, the custom of collecting papers and selling them was a success. This helped very much in raising neces- sary funds for our trip.
